My wife's brother asked to drive our wedding car. There was nothing suitably notable by either family, so we went to the hire companies. I had hoped for an Audi A8, but none of were listed. In any case, only one company would deal with us as bro-in-law was under 25 at the time. We ended up with an E-Class Merc (standard wedding car round these parts if you don't want vintage), which did the job perfect. The hire company rep did look doubtful as he handed over the keys - "Have you ever driven one of these before?". Bro-in-law was driving artics for a few years at that stage, so the E200 was in safe hands.

My fiance has said (since about the age of 10-11) that when she gets married, she was going to the church in her mum and dads Austin A35. It has been off the road and on blocks for about 15years. They have owned it for about 40 years.
At Christmas when I asked her to marry me, her dad almost had a heart attack, not because I asked her, but because he actually has to get the Austin going!
So we WILL be having the Austin A35 as our wedding car. I will take along the Lomax too.
Best of luck! - we said the same re our A35 when we got engaged at Christmas (my intention then was to get married in 2016 not in less than 3 weeks time!) other circumstances came into play and so it's not meant to be. There was always a lot to do but we still gave it a good go! Looks like its gonna be a belter! The seats were recovered several years back in preparation for eventual return to the road. The engine has been run several times too, although a new water pump has been fitted and not started for a little while. Its inner and outer sills have been done too. But everything else is still to do! I think the aim is to get it driving, legal and presentable. Everything else can be done as and when!srob said:

His is a '38 SS80 that's just back on the road.
Was your Brough car one of the cars at last year's Kop hillclimb? Never seen so many in one place at one time!
