Looking at the results of today's sale, many many of the entries are "Awaiting Update" (but still with published estimates)
which I presume means that they didn't make their reserves but after sale negotiations are going on?

Having been to a few classic auctions, I feel that the reason a lot of auctions cars don't sell is for a few good reasons.

a) They're tonced up old stters.

b) The owner is on drugs with the reserve

c) The auctioneers wouldn't know a good car if it ran them over

d) The folk with the $$$$ only want the best.

H&H is the worst with some real old toss. To me, a lot of auctions are dumping grounds for crap. At the NEC a couple of years ago, the auctioneers there (Barons? Coys?) were selling a Daytona Yellow Mark 1 Mexico. There wasn't a straight panel on it. It was rubbish. A guy flew in from Dublin to buy a Capri RS3100 described as being the best assailable. A complete pile of st -the door shuts had been sprayed with artex.
