Which car to buy and tuck away? Audi TT Mk1 or Boxster Mk1
Discussion
You can't piss, fart or whistle without tripping up over a TT or a Boxter.
You want something properly rare.
What about a Phase 3 GTV 3.2? There were fewer than 60 registered in the UK.
Even the common or garden Phase 1 and Phase 2 GTV V6 is a pretty uncommon beast.
Here's one which I should never have sold.....

I would not be buying either for making money in 5 years,
I have had a Boxster S, would not touch amother, check my profile....
BUT I love the original TT, would have to buy one in silver, 225, black leather, no rear spoiler and the best I could afford. Just like the pure motor show concept car. An original one of those should go up in value, but not for at least 10 years I reckon, way too many left.
Interesting read on the profile. I have had a Boxster S, would not touch amother, check my profile....

Why did you skin the discs (wheeler dealer style) over replacing with new items?
Was it the 350BhP version you had?

How about 2x RX-8 for £1k ish each fix any broken engine issues then flog on for multiples of your cost.
Ha ha I compete in a shared RX8 PZ ( Prodrive one ) in a southern sprit and hillclimb championship with a mate, you are never going to make money on an RX8!!! I ADORE our one, its pretty much unbeatable in the production 2-litre class, only an Integra Type R comes close and that is worth at least 3X as much. But we have pretty much taken 1/3 the life out of a freshly rebuilt engine in just 1 season on competition between 2 of us and a few trackdays on top. The PZ in particular is a certified solid gold classic, and deservedly so, but that engine is a consumable component at £2k a pop rebuild so again I'd give it 10 years before they will make any money. I didnt skim the discs out of choice. The dealer who I brokered the sale with insisted on it to sell it. Because it had little use in the last 3 months of my ownwership ( bored my tits off so it just sat there ) they corroded up in a disgraceful way. At that point I just wanted rid. Would skimmimg the discs caused a problem for the new owner then????
Why didn't you just drive it for ten miles and use the brake a lot. Actually they would be clesned up massively quicker than that a few hard stops and or trailing brake would do it. Vastly cheaper same result. Hackney said:
Why would you "tuck away" any car that cost only a few grand?
If it was a properly rare car, yes but a mass produced model.....?
If you want to drive either, but it and drive it.
If you want to invest £5k surely there's better ways than a second hand golf in a posh frock.
How about E34 M5 /E39 M5 IF you can find one at that price point? Amazing cars the former last of the hand built cars so seriously desirable the latter arguably the best ever M5 period so again strong returns. If it was a properly rare car, yes but a mass produced model.....?

On the e39 for me it's rust rather than mechanicals.
