In that price bracket, since selling my Griffith in 07, I've had an elise, an Alpina B9 (BMW 6 series), a Boxster, and now a porsche 911 996. It's a lot harder to buy a good classic at this end of the market now than it ever used to be. Alfa Montreal, Ferrari 308 GT4, even Sunbeam Tigers used to be in budget, but no more.
I've been looking for a perfect Jensen Healey for 20 years and never seen one for sale!

V8 or straight six R107 SL. A bit of a boat handling wise but, if you buy a good one, a dream to own. Tough and mixes roof up (hardtop) and roof down motoring like no other.

Take a holiday in LA, break down and meet new people. Think of all those pretty girls who will stop to see if they can help!

That is definitely worth a thought. I wonder what import charges would be like though? scratchchin

A decent Sunbeam Tiger (V8 engine Alpine) for £20k

I thought you said decent Sunbeam Tiger laugh

You'll need another 20k to turn that one into a decent Tiger....that's why decent ones are getting on for £50k now.

It's been re-shelled into an Alpine shell so 200k wouldn't make into a descent tiger.

I had this decision earlier this year.

I went for an early Lotus Elan plus 2.

I would be torn between a useable MGA, which I have always wanted, or an absolutely immaculate MGB....

Agree, nice as they are that's just plain daft money.

Thanks for all the replies guys, I have done some soul searching and I to be honest I think I would regret getting rid of the TVR as it is such a good all rounder and we have a lot of memories (I bought it 6 years ago during my apprenticeship), so over the course of this winter I am going to get some bits tidied up and look at getting some more power out of her, and then get a cheaper classic with the rest (maybe another Morris Minor or an Austin 7) so that I can scratch the itch and me and the misses can have something a bit different in the summer.

I think I will need to rent another garage hehe

On a lower budget (keeping your TVR being a very good idea!) how about an Elan M100 turbo?

The other half may like the looks, great handling, rust free body, tough little engine... at the moment still a performance bargain?

My wife wants a classic soft top and keeps pointing at MGBs.. sadly my efforts to make her look at an old Elan have failed, sadly. I think they are great.

Back to the hypothetical £20k classic, I quite like the look of something like this, or maybe a Turbo Coupe for similar money.
