Living in Hedge End - a few miles away from Bishops Waltham, I have been told by a long standing local that the current owners have been there 40 years or more and are not called Jones. The old farm house still exists but other properties have also been built on the land.

Someone formerly of this thread has been very busy on his mission to prove the car in question was a Sunbeam Alpine... (as far as my sneaky phone pics of his PC show)
Scanned in street scene of the location in question...
Images matching the mystery car's dimensions derived from the above to an Alpine...
So he's still wittering on about his Alpine theory then.Scanned in street scene of the location in question...

He sent me some threatening notes on another web site.

Still think it's Sunbeam Alpine based, prototype or concept/design study vehicle or a one-off special. It's a direct match if you lay it over. If someone had one I could take photos of I could "prove" it, it's way too close, would love to be shown otherwise. In the meantime I'm slowly making various 3D models of it. Fruitless if nothing concrete ever comes forward but interesting imo, I'll hopefully get something worth looking at on here soon.

A Norwegian fella appears to have (not really) made one for himself out of an MGA:

I like that. I've had 3 MGA's over the years, all were coupe's.https://mgaguru.com/mgtech/variants/vt107gw.htm

A new drama series started last night on Sky Max called Funny Woman, starring Gemma Arterton. It's set in 1964 London and there's lots of period footage including clever CGI work where Arterton is included in the footage. (There are errors - Hillman Hunter in 1964?)
I found myself spending the whole hour trying to spot the little blue coupe. Is this going to send some of us a bit gaga?

After spending (wasting) several afternoon's reading this thread I have concluded that the book publisher asked his/her art department to ' put something in that blank space on the junction'
So a youngster drew up a small blue car.......as a bus would have been too big.......

Just to reinforce the point made by many about the difficulty of tracking-down one-offs (or near-one-offs), here's another found in a 1955 edition of Motor Sport:
Claimed to be the work of the proprietor of the BP garage in Albi, France, and based off of the mechanicals of a Citroen Light 15.
It was claimed in the article that a few "production" models might follow; who knows if they did?

But a handful of experts seemingly ‘nailed’ the mystery by identifying it as a rare Sunbeam Tiger Project TS4 concept car, which seems to only exist as a 3D image.
