This Merc has been parked like this for at least 4 years.

Google streetview shows it first appearing in 2012 but I'm sure it's been there a good year or two before that.

I can't really tell from the images, but I think it's a 230 or 280 - not a classic I know, but certainly being left to die!

EDIT: Just managed to zoom in on one of the older images - it's a lowly 220CE

This is the streetview URL

I've been watching that slowly rot on a weekly basis for a number of years, I believe it is owned by a local Pole. Given its location I'm surprised it hasn't been trashed or torched yet.

'lowly' 220CE? As the Scotsman with the wooden leg said, 'it's a matter of a pin yon'...

I think he's there just to hold up the sign.

Sorry to be a total nerd but that's a 230CE. The 220 would be the facelift with the white indicators and flush rear number plate section (plus it would be an E220, not a 220CE).... As you were!

Grrrrrr. You're right. Either there's some badge bodge going on or I need to check my nerd stats...

Edit: checked Wiki. The 2.2 220 came with the facelift and was badged E220, even on the coupe. Yet checked google images and there are plenty of pre facelift coupe's with the 2.2 engine badged 220 CE's.... I'm confused.com.

Another comment on the post suggests that the owner also has an immaculate silver quattro, so this may be a parts donor or future project, hopefully the latter.

Looks too good to be a donor, unless rotted out underneath.

I thought so, but if the owner has another they presumably have some idea of whether or not it can be resurrected. No idea how long it's been there, of course, so it might not belong in here.

There's a guy selling motorbikes on eBay, he must have about 50 for sale, all photographed outside his premises, every one is apparently a "barn find". I keep meaning to ask him for pictures of where they were found….

It's just his warehouse. He just has very poor book keeping so everyone is a find. wink

I wonder whether it could be my car, but new from Scotts of Sloane Square. D848GYP and not seen since about 1988?
