What I don't understand is why someone would refuse to sell a rotting car left abandoned on their driveway or in a garage for many years..
It's just going to sit there and deteriorate.
"It'll get done some day", no it bloody won't otherwise it'd be done by now! furious
Perhaps the car is a last link to a loved one and the family can't bear to let it go.

Perhaps the owner has delusions of the car's value and nobody has ever offered them the amount they would be prepared to sell it for.

Perhaps the owner's hoping to win the lottery to pay for a full restoration.

At the end of the day, the car's their property and they're under no obligation to sell it. If you feel so strongly about a car being left to rot on a driveway, why don't you go and offer a stupid amount of money to the owner to try and save it?

12th Jan was probably when the last change of keeper occurred, back in 1990!

Is the car at a village near Bruntingthorpe?

I remember seeing it years ago, and the plate is nearly my initials....
It's in Walcote.

iSore - many thanks for posting the pic wink

Last time I saw it it looked like it does now on googl earth@ with a tarp over it ands tyres. Before that a lot worse then the pic above, with no vbodywork between the rear screen and rear wheel on the drivers side. There were also a few old Rovers around the place. Presumably for the same fate??

Blimey I remember seeing that derelict Jensen whilst driving through Walcote in the early 1990s. It looked rough back then.

Just bumped into this Ami 8 in an underground car park in Tignes. Looks like it's been there a while

I think that Jensen has sat there since the late 70's. Every time I go through Walcote I look out for it.
What a shame!!!!

Same here.... heading east towards Market Harborough it's a case of 'slow down, drop into second for a mo, eyes right, whistful sigh, eyes back on the road...' then by the time you're fifty yards further up the road you've spent £40k you haven't got on its restoration...!

They have form for this.
In the early 70's it was a Triumph Mayflower that suffered the same fate. It slowly dissolved over the years to be replaced by the Jensen.

I know, top lurking.

As you were.

This might be stretching the definition of 'classics' a bit far:

Just got me reminiscing a bit more: didn't there used to be a specialist Gilbern garage along the (former) A427 at Husband's Bosworth? I'm sure I remember having a look around an Invader on the forecourt one day.

That was in the early 70's if I recall correctly. The garage has long gone.

That's SORN and the MOT only ran out six months ago...I'm thinking it's waiting for some work. Maybe a restoration?

Could well be, apart from the giant rust patch it doesn't look too shabby.

Near Kidsgrove, Stoke on Trent.

Not the best picture, but points awarded if you can identify all four vehicles.
