On my lunchtime wander I've seen this car/shell a few times. They appear to have cleared away some of the weeds so I could actually see it. Still have no idea what it is I'd previously assumed it was a Reliant Scimitar but now I can see it isn't. Anyone able to id it?

It's a clan
It's a McCoy. In the 80s while the original Clan bods wrangled with a pirate outfit in Ireland who "reintroduced" the Clan with pop up headlights along came another pirate called the McCoy. Unfortunately it was pish ( unlike the Irish one which was really rather smart) and sported mini underpinnings, a jacked up ride height and round headlights like the photo shows.
By coincidence I was at a hillclimb in Brittany today and saw this request taped to one of the cars entered:
St.Goueno ?
Yes. First time I have been, enjoyed seeing the French hill scene. Need to work out what the regs are to decide if I should try to get an entry for next year.
Sorry to hijack thread. You'll need a National B I believe then more or less anything is accepted as long as it's "interesting" as they tend to be oversubscribed there although less so at La Pommeraye the week before.

I'll go and check exactly what it is one day next week. Didn't know it might be an "M".

Maybe not left to die, but will be tons of work.
Perhaps people just get too old/overworked/despondent/ill health.

Stumbled into a little BMW graveyard while waiting for my car (a BMW!) to be MOT'd...

Is that a genuine M535i? £20k for a minter.
Hardly...

I had one a while back in Royal Blue metallic with the dog-leg gearbox. Sold it for peanuts and regretted it ever since.

This was taken about a year ago but when I went past the other day, it has almost been completely engulfed by the surrounding foliage. Shame really .

Dear oh dear, I wonder how many times the owner of the Esprit has been asked if it's for sale.

It's been off the road nearly as long as it was on it.

something off-ish with that saab sittting like it is - granted it's "only" an early 9-5 Aero but it's got what i think is a Hirsch badge on the back and enlarging the pic i think i can spy multi-pot fr calipers

paul

edit - just seen the wing badges and the o/s rear badge; maybe not an aero after all

It's definitely an M535i. A pupil at our school (!) had one brand new. He destroyed it a few weeks later in a massive crash.

Depends on the quality of repair.

The write-off status is irrelevant.

Exactly! Or, as you would read it in a classic car magazine or auction blurb:
'This iconic German automobile has been subject to a comprehensive restoration, to include a number of NOS panels and paintwork finished to the highest standard'
