The SL MOT expired in 2007, so nearly 10 years off the road. Last MOT showed 60k, wonder why it was laid up?

Maybe the clue to the reason for being laid up is the 600SL badge - running and repair costs exceeding ability of the owner to pay and justify any repair costs needed in relation to value of the car.

This Jaguar has been parked on a drive in Nottingham for over 25 years. I don't have much knowledge/interest in Jaguars but have always thought these huge cars were pretty cool. Can't help but think "Krays" whenever I see it. It looks very rotten but maybe the interior or mechanicals could be saved. The chrome certainly looks to have built from tough stuff.

Probably a problem with the ads suspension system. The last one I had needed a sensor at North of a £1k. With no guarantee it would fix it.

That's such a sad looking car!

Was taxed up until June 20008 though ...

Threads like this make me want to cry. If I only had the money and skills I would save some of these. That R32 a few pages from the start needs rescuing, pronto!

Wow! Can't believe someone has taxed it for all those years.

Is that in the meadows? I used to pass it quite regularly and always wondered what it was. Cool looking beast. It's been there for yonks.

Not The Meadows but not far. It's in West Bridgford just off Boundary Road (Cemetery End). I do remember an old Saab being parked on a drive in The Meadows, near Trent Bridge. I do also remember the BMW E30 Frank Sytner race car that was left in a billboard on Trent Bridge (late 80's?). That was a cool billboard for Sytners.

There's a Jag XJ-C lurking under that tarpaulin, hasn't moved in years as far as I know.

Ahh, might've been the Saab I saw, right near trent bridge (behind the pub). I'll have to keep an eye out for the Jag if I'm ever over that way again.

That's correct, there was an old Saab (behind the pub) near trent bridge. Think it's gone now. Don't look to closely for the Jag in WB, you might stumble across the old lady owned from new, barely used 1990 Porsche 911 Cabriolet that's lurking round there. I'm having that (one day).

Probably not taxed until then, just when the owner stopped SORNing it?

If it was taxed, it should have had MOT history as well.

Running costs most likely, or perhaps an expensive electric brain problem; recommissioning wouldn't be cheap, even a set of low end tires will be £500, plus pads/discs/rubber hoses etc and an engine service could run well over a grand in parts alone.

But that's the joy of owning an old car.

Isn't it?
