Are you deliberately trying to provoke me?
Nope. That would imply that I care about your input.Strela said:
I don't realise that I did anything other than ask if something counted. I certainly didn't suggest anything.Strela said:
In case you don't know that's a Spaghetti Kinder Egg that sold for $12m back in 1983. Is your BX worth $12m? Because basically, that's what you're saying. Although, in fairness, that's not what you said.
I'd stop sniffing whatever it is that you're sniffing. If it's your own pants, just wash them like everyone else. Take them off first, though.Strela said:
Anyway, your BX will never be a classic. Not in a hundred years!
Good to know. I never actually said it was.Strela said:
It's got to have been desirable when new.
Well, they only sold 2.3m.Strela said:
Had some clown insisting the other day that his Austin 7 was a classic.
I reckon you'd know one if you saw one. I'll leave you to figure out whether I mean the car, or the clown.(Hint....I didn't mean the car)

I says to him, "My Uncle Nobhead traded one in for a padlock - and that was in 1934!" Called him a wker, got into my Koenigsegg, cruised past Poundland, waved to the teenagers, FIFTY likes on Facebook - job done. Now THAT's classic.
(Is this trolling? It's kinda fun - but I feel a bit dirty now.)
No, you're doing it wrong. Trolling is planting a picture of a Citroen BX into a classic car thread and then watching the villagers foam at the gob while you kick back with some popcorn (or in my case, a tub of Carte D'Or). You just sound like an old man trying to belittle someone you don't know over the internet.(Is this trolling? It's kinda fun - but I feel a bit dirty now.)

Been walking my dog round a local golf course every night in Nottingham for years and for some reason, tonight, I took a detour and stumbled across a car that must have been pretty rare, even when new...
A Citroen BX GTI 4x4.
Wow. Genuinely staggered by the reaction my post of the locally found BX GTI has created... Anyway, I'm planning on tapping on the door of the house its parked outside this weekend and seeing what plans, if any, the owner has for it's future. If anyone has any interest in the car, please PM me and I will happily pass on your details if the owner is open to selling it. Don't pm me if all you want to do is burn it. Interestingly, they have a big garage next to the BX. I'm interested in seeing if there's anything 'interesting' languishing in there. If there is, maybe I should keep that to myself...A Citroen BX GTI 4x4.

BXs were better than most of the rivals of the day at fighting tinworm, but the youngest is still 22 years old now. They go.....well, have a look at my BX blogs in readers cars. The GT one shows you where they go!
As far as 'classic' goes, it's a subjective opinion as to what constitutes a classic car. You can't be right or wrong. I think it's a good spot.

Now hold on there young man, isn't it an early GTI?I think you are right, it has all the right external elements to be an early GTi, but I guess it could be a clone as there were many at one time.
Before anyone says, I am well aware that there were other hatches that were hot before the Golf, but it was the Golf that really started the genre.

Possibly a late Mk1 - not too many clues but it has the Pirelli wheels used on the 'campaign' models in '83/84It also looks to be the green which I think was also a campaign marker.
If it is the 1800 late Mk1 they are a nice thing - had one for ten years
The Mk1 could be a 1600 or 1800 GTi, but i'm not convinced it is a Campaign model.
The Pirelli wheels found on the Campaign are easily swapped, and a couple of other Campaign features are also missing, but again easily removed.
It should have additional fog lights in the centre grill, and there should be some plastic trim pieces on the A posts either side of the windscreen.
Anyway, on to later GTIs.
I was sent a link to three photos of this Golf GTI, but no contact details.
The car had sat unused since 2011, but still looked ok.
All I had to go on was a Photobucket user name, so after searching for random names based on this, I eventually found it on a forum.
Managed to get in touch with the owner
Also, whilst out and about I spotted this.
Will be trying to contact the owner the next time i'm passing
p.s. I think the BX is a classic....

My dad had a new one of these in 1987 - E reg. I never liked it when compared to my Pug 1.9. He didn't have it that long and traded it for for a Passat!
My only other contact with Golfs has been a guy I worked with who had an H-reg one in a Burgundy that was nice but before (about two cars before that) he had a black Mk1 - V reg from memory - god, that was quick! Or so it seemed back then.
Well done for saving another one Sim!

Well put. Reminds me I should really make more effort with my nephew.
Anyway, I posted this picture up a few dozen pages ago.
I took it in 2013 outside the National Museum in Kabul, where there was an eclectic little collection of Rolls-Royces and old American limos, all in need of considerable "recommissioning" but surprisingly intact.
I couldn't find any archive pictures of this car, but an online trawl turned up a bulletin of the RR Enthusiasts Club with an article on the 5 (or 7) RRs bought in the 1920s by King Amanullah. I contacted the RREC last week and today received an email from their librarian suggesting that this is Amanullah's 1926 Phantom I (60YC) with Barker sports body, mentioned (but not pictured) in the article. I don't know what the date of the bulletin is but it was written this century and it concluded that there is no "information on the location of these cars since they were originally sold to the King of Afghanistan. The evidence (or lack of evidence) indicates strongly that these Rolls-Royce cars are probably all still in Afghanistan, most likely in or near Kabul. But where? And in what condition?"
And 60YC is not the only one there...I will be in Kabul next month and feel a project coming on.
See that's a vintage car, not a classic. Doesn't belong here either.Anyway, I posted this picture up a few dozen pages ago.
