Here's some more info:
Built by John Englaro, Dorian Zerial and Harold Zeman. It was developed as a competitor to Ferrari and Maserati. Engine, gearbox and running gear was borrowed from Holden. Chassis and suspension were by John Englaro who also worked on Leyland P76 project before the Ze-One. The plan was to build 25 units a year each priced at $25.000 AUD (this would be just under $100.000 USD today). Little, if anything, has been heard about the Ze-One after the Sydney show.
Brilliant work biggrin

The OP would appear to have inadvertently published the best photo of one of these that exists, online at least!

Sorry, had to remove photo as it had copyright. The car is a 1978 Ze-one. First seen at the Sydney motor show. has a 5 litre Holden engine.

Thank-you so much for your post, not knowing has been niggling away at me ever since the photo was taken. If you're ever in Southern California, many beers are on me.

Hi Everyone - I just stumbled across this thread when I googled my dad hahah

The ZE - Spectre as this model was known was the improvement over the ZE - One that had a different interior, hatch treatment and some minor rear modifications to exhaust placement.

Still getting around regularly and in great shape, unfortunately vandles set the ZE-One on fire quite some time ago, leaving this one to hold the fort.

A lot of history in this car and would have been amazing if it actually went into production, however there are quite a few external reasons as to why it didnt.

Feel free to fire any questions at me.

A bit late to the party..

I came across some negative film of john, harold and doriab posing in front of the ze-one car in 1980.
