lads, does anyone know if there is such a thing as an owners club for these cars, or would it just be under a general BMW Owners Club? I'm looking at a 1972/73 'K' reg car.

I think that the Owners Club would consist of very few people. I worked for BMW GB in the mid 70s and drove them regularly but by the early 80s they were almost gone. Problem is so much of them could be used on coupe restoration.I wish you luck. One of my most memorable drives in one was from Park Lane to Monaco on a Friday night in 1976 in just under 10 hours for the Grand Prix and back in the office late morning Monday.

BMW Car Club UK has a classics section but there is nothing specific to the E3 anymore. This is mainly due to their scarcity. (here in the UK anyway)

Is there anything specific you need help with?

There is actually not all that much that can used for restoration of the coupés on them. The drivetrain is the same and some accessories fit both (i.e. rims, steering wheels etc.) but not much else.

I would be surprised if there are more than 5 or 10 on the road. I had a carb 3.0S years ago and in the eighties, you saw most E3's in the scrapyards along with Series 1 XJ6's.

Unbeatable BMW.......My old one........superb cars.......

I started a thread on here about them a couple of years ago. Nigel Gib ran a register for them some years ago.

In the late 80's I had a 1976 3.0si and loved the thing. I just wish I'd hung onto it.

From memory this is the very quick / Motor magazine Editor, Roger Bell in his Mathwall built / Dealer team BMW 3.0Si in 1973, seen here with the very fast Gordon Spice on his tail in his 72 Capri 3000GT.

My Step dad worked for Langley Motors in Thames Ditton in the early 70s and came home most nights in a different model . Some great memories of the drive from Cranleigh with him to work. Cracking cars
