I give you the Talbot Rancho. Perhaps a model was ahead of it's time in that it pre-dated the SUV definition.

Other suggestions?

I'd think the Princess is an even rarer car now!

A LOT less so... Ranchos were always rocking-horse, and they rotted terribly.

Good ol' HowManyLeft...

5 taxed, 5 SORNed Ranchos left. All Talbot - the last Chrysler died a decade ago.
90 taxed, 30 SORNed Austin Princess, before we even go near all the various other-badged and other-specced variants. There's 5 taxed and 10 SORNed Princess HLS Automatic alone. Then there's a chunk of Ambassadors, too. 1 taxed, 6 SORNed VdP Ambassador, and another 2 taxed, 4 SORNed VdP Ambassador Auto.

Ranchoes, were actually a nice little car, wife had one when my twins were young, all the advantages of a SUV with car economy, but I agree they did rust.
At the same time I still had my Lotus Sunbeam so we had a two Talbot garage, which was unusual even back in the day.

They were such a pretty car, and amazing to drive. In my fantasy car collection I'd have one as well as an early CX and an SM. DS's are a bit too Islington these days alas.

I'd love a Princess as well, a 2200 HLS in triple black, magnificent.

Cars that have vanished? The Mark 1 Mondeo is almost there but Montegos have gone from the roads now. Still see the odd Sierra or Cavalier.

Fair point, I remember the population seen on the roads seemed to collapse very suddenly one year. I see more Capris than Sierras these days.

There seemed to be one year when the rear arches fell off every single Sierra, from the earliest to the last.

It might have been the same year that every single facelift Mk1 Mondeo's rear bumper ripped and was gaffer-taped together.

Hopefully no one actually believes the rubbish on that howmany site.

I do, actually. Flaws in the data are going to be flaws in DVLA's record, mainly on imported stuff where the model simply isn't entered.

Unless you've got anything to the contrary?

Those have disappeared because they've been illegal for years.

No, they aren't, whatever the press stories say.

They disappeared because none of the users actually owned them - they were all provided by the gov't. When they were withdrawn, they were just rounded up and squished. The odd survivor was, basically, stolen... Apart from that, they're perfectly legal to use.
