Saw a Ford Probe today, which rather amazed me.

How about one of these, I don’t remember seeing many on the road when they were new. How many left website states that there are seven left on U.K. roads.

I'd be surprised that there are even seven - it was in a weird middle ground of being more expensive than the Carlton and less nice than the Royale so didn't sell too well and it's not a prized classic today.

I would have thought they'd be extinct now, but I'm happy to have been proven wrong.

I can’t remember the last time I saw a Ford Cougar, they were a loathesome piece of design and haven’t stood the test of time so I’m not surprised that most have now been crushed.

Nobody has mentioned the Vauxhall Chevette yet. Had a couple of these and Opel Kadett Coupes. The Chevettes were a bit underpowered with the 1256cc engines. We put a 1600 pinto in one and it seemed perfect smile

I had a few Chevettes too, I put 2.0 Pinto in one and it really flew!

Did a lot of miles as a teenage passenger in Corsairs- in a 1500 straight four - almost forgotten now, deservedly so. The 1700 V4 was far better, if Transit sound tracked. But my guilty pleasure was the 2000E in aubergine - I thought it looked ace- lots of dials , wood dash and Rostyles. Almost as good as the 1600E in fact .

I helped to put mileage on one of the HS's prior to them being released to the press for the launch .
Three of us in the car , down to Wales up through the lake district into Scotland all over the highlands down through the Yorkshire moors then back to Luton to be cleaned and serviced , nice little weekend jaunt .

I've seen both my local Reliant Robins. One of them is nearly always parked in the same place as I assume the old boy that drives it just parks it up whilst he goes fishing for the day. The other one I occasionally see at Tesco Express in the morning. But other than those two, I rarely see any others.

Like a lot of cars from that era, there's probably a greater proportion of the HS and HSR production surviving than the more widespread 1256 versions. Same for stuff like the Magnum coupe (far rarer now than the HP Firenza), and probably applies to Chrysler / Talbot Sunbeam vs. Lotus version and lots more.

So many cars that very nearly got to production from vauxhall .
The one that would have stormed the motoring world at the time was the Victor V8.
The FE transcontinental Victor with a Repco Holden V8 .
It cost too much to strengthen the shell as the torque was wrecking the baulkhead/A posts when tested on the ripple road .

Ford Orion 1.6i Ghia

Had a couple of 1.6i Ghia's when I was in my late teens, loved them! I actually preferred them to an XR3i, which looking back as seems a bit strange now! I have been 'browsing' eBay looking at 1.6i Ghia's for a while now, just waiting for the right time to mention it to the wife!

I feel the same way about the Sierra / Sapphire - I much prefer the Sapphire.

I had a lowly 1.4 GL Orion (1987) at one point.

It was a competent little car, but why did anyone need a boot that big?!
