The Capri auction lot notes state that a proportion of the sale price will be going to cancer research.
If punters know that some or all of the sale price is for charity the sold price will often be above normal market
expectations.

Old gits buying the important cars from their better years.

How much is a genuine Sweeney Consul or Granny worth?
We may find out eventually, the genuine 'NHK 295M' and 'RHJ 996R' are both currently being restored. There is another Mk1 Consul doing the rounds dolled up as 'NHK', but its V5C will tell a different story... wink
The guy who has the actual Sweeney Consul has been doing it for years though, always says he has too much other work on to put any time in on it, never shows any pics of it etc ... At least that is the impression I used to get from reading his (few) posts on the now, sadly defunct, Sweeney site.

I think it is RHJ 997R not 6 ...
You're right, it is 997 not 996 wink

I've not seen any new photos of 'NHK' since the owner posted his restoration pics on the old Sweeney forum, hopefully it will be finished properly some day. The site bit the dust because of some argy bargy between a mate of mine who put his heart and soul into running it and the owner who would not listen to reason, sadly. The catalyst was when an ex-forum member started slagging people off elsewhwere with the owner backing him up rather than the guys who actually ran it.

That's such a shame as it was a great read and some members on there put A LOT of time into digging out locations etc (I even did one - with pics) - but some did may of them - such a shame it can't be accessed.

Sorry for the pedant no. plate thing!

Sweeney forum was excellent, the contributors even made a film.

Sweeney car chases in central London are from a different era, none of that closed roads nonsense. Stoppo Driver!

PH needs pedants occasionally!

I posted a lot of classic car related stuff on there, plus several screen grabs from various films and TV series... took a lifetime to sort out but it was worth the effort. The lads who made the Sweeney homage are going to do one based on 'Villain' next wink

Apologies for wandering off topic folks.
