That is the only photo I have seen online of a 604 with the four headlamp wipers specified! I remember seeing one in a dealership in the late 1970s and being very impressed (my dad was a big Peugeot man) - but have never seen photo of one with them despite looking and had begun to wonder whether I had imagined it! Thanks for posting that. dandarez said:

Anyone recognise the building without cheating. Clue: It later became quite famous for many years as home to a marque still going.
You know it gives the answer to that across the bottom of the photo, if you screw your eyes up?Different angle pic, showing other makes in window, Belsize, GN, Morris etc.

I'd say that's inside the Humber Road Comp building This is outside
My Sunbeam-Lotus parked in front of Des's 309GTi company car when I paid a visit to see Des back in Nov 1989.

Yes, not complete cars, but painted bodies.
What genius designed a production line that meant that bodies, even painted bodies, got stockpiled in the open air?
I know, BL.
Sad, isn't it?
John
Is that Speke, or Coventry? I forget where the TR7 was made.
As for being stockpiled due to the production line procedures or problems associated with industrial action (it was the 70's) or even shells rejected on the line and taken off to be scrapped...?

With respect to all, the first photograph is almost certainly not the Humber Road Competitions dept. More likely the latter Aldermoor Lane location. This being the location of Auto Machinery where previously fasteners were manufactured. Yes, we made our own fixings.Opposite the doors in the Humber Road location was the 51 Shop - and that doesn't look like the 51 Shop.
You may have guessed an association!
I am an ex Rootes (well Humber actually) apprentice. Predating that photo by some years I may add.
Thank you for the memory.
Oh, I remember Des without grey hair!
