Good pics! Was the Group S Audi moving under its own power?

Here´s some RS200 Anorak information about these cars:"C944OTW" is an ex-rallycross car which was originally destined to be shipped to Canada with several others in a deal that fell through. These cars were designated "RS200S" but never actually badged as such - this is a personal modification. More information about chassis #077 can be found here:
http://www.rs200.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=251&...
And on the event website:
http://www.eifel-rallye-festival.de/de/nennliste_r...
"C939OTW" is owned by the car´s original designer, ex-Ford Motorsport technical director John Wheeler (who was also responsible for the Escort Cosworth, amongst others). His long-term aim with this car was to build what he had imagined the Group S car would be, with a (Quaife) sequential gearbox, Ford YB (like the Sierra/Escort) engine, and altered aerodynamics. This car is well-known in historic motorsport (this time co-driven by his son Scott) - I don´t know the chassis number, sorry I´ve never asked John.
As for the satin-black Toyota MR2s - these cars were both built by Toyota Team Europe in 1985/86 as prove-out prototypes for a canned Group S project. Outwardly the same, one has a transverse engine and one longtitudinal. One is owned privately by an ex-TTE/TMG man, one is kept at the TMG museum. They were static exhibits at the weekend.

Superb thread is superb! I have to say, that FB RX-7 is giving me serious trouser issues but the overwhelming impression I'm left with is that I really want a high-roofed Citroen XM in my life
Where did the Ro80 sneak in from, Iva? That must be the last working one left on Earth!

It is an excellent event, you won't see as many group b or s cars in one place anywhere else .
Dates are probably roughly same weekend in July ,either 2nd to last or last weekend.
It starts on the Thursday, with all the cars in Daun town centre for scrutineering and all the invited star drivers will be signing autographs on a stage about midday.
There are no barriers and you can walk freely around everywhere.
There's a booth to buy the ticket to get onto the stages and a programme to show you how to get to them.
Most stages are only a short drive away.
It is not a timed event but most drivers are using full throttle.
To find the dates just Google Eifel rallye 2018 early next year,or if I see it first I'll post it here.
I've been 3 times to this, shows the high regard I have for the event.
Daun is near the Nurburgring if that takes your fancy too.

A second recommendation to go to this fabulous event. As Lucido mentioned it's based in Daun and the whole town centre is transformed in to the service area. It's like travelling back in time and is pure rally heaven.
They do that a lot 'over there'. At the recent Spa 24hrs all the competing cars drove into the centre of Spa and when I went to a race meeting in Chimay, the same happened with food and drink freely availabe to drivers and teams. It had a real festive flavour which we never seem to enjoy in the UK.Gassing Station | Classic Cars and Yesterday's Heroes | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
