Put an accuspark one on my old MG B and it was pretty faultless. Current MG B has a 123 dizzy on it and it's superb - starts easily, even when left for a long time and it's been mapped for the fast road head / cam / exhaust / needles etc

I did hear that the lumenition one didn't always work well on MGs.

Can`t you get a later, say a metro distributor with the factory fitted electronic ignition and fit that. I fitted the guts out of a maestro distributor in my Triumph spitfire one years ago. But one from another `A` series engine should go straight in.

The only experience I have is with rover and chevy V8 engines .
As a matter of routine all the ignition systems have been replaced with Mallory systems .
We have used them in road cars ,race engines and boats .
Never had a hiccup, instant start and smooth running .

On my BB Vette I used an MSD 6T with shift-light and rev limiter. All the components are modular and there are many options. Also used the MSD billet electronic distributor. Good, reliable and powerful piece of kit!

Lumenition was on the D-type when I bought it 16 years ago and is still infallible. With rheumatism setting in big time changed the E-type to a 123 several years back and again, not a problem. I miss points and a condenser, but my hands can no longer cope with the fiddly stuff and electronics enable me to use my cars with no worries.
