Amazon, P6 or left field choice?

Thanks for the link, Bob. It's what my B18 dreams of at night when she's wrapped up under cover. This, however, is quite savage on the Swedish Midnight Sun Classic...the Opel Kadetts seem to really suffer... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JS_FpgABwFsv8250 said:

yes, they're great old girls...but who pinched his front indicators and sidelights??Guess the sidelights are in the main light reflectors.
So here is my thought process.
Amazon makes sense. Lots of good reasons, sensible 4 pot engine, simple, spares availability good. Would make sense to spend less on a saloon, see how I get on, if all is good, then switch to an estate.
The left field choices....
The Scimitar SE4 has the advantage that lifting the body off the chassis is easier if welding ever needed, but the straight ones probly not so good on engine parts availability.
The Gilbern and Peerless, harder to find, both hide many chassis tubes with grp and both suffer rot, its hard to know in both cases how good the chassis is which presents a risk. (Been there with a Gordon Keeble)

Just my own dribblings but the SE4 Scim has a chassis with some strange rust traps around suspension mounts I'm led to believe and the rear seats look pretty useless, considered one myself until I looked in the back.Amazon makes sense. Amazon monocoque can rot like any 60's car but the steel is thicker I'm led to believe. (I have a 97 940 Estate but much of it is galv or ali I understand). Friendly OC for the Amazon and a regular on the Classic Rally circuit.
Gilbern has the body bonded to the chassis I think. Love then and know someone who has has his Mk 3 Invader for about 40 years.. umpteen rebuilds and still looks great.
Peerless not sure.
