Mrs 13M is back at work for a few weeks and needs to feed the children breakfast in the car. They like sausage rolls, but as we are trying not to raise them porky we need some quick, healthy food that can be consumed easily in the car.

Anyy ideas chaps please?

Surely the healthiest and best solution is to set the alarm clock for 20mins earlier and give them breakfast at home properly.

Bingo. Good eating is about far more than the food itself, and actually eating with your parents around a table is a very important habit to get into. Setting the expectation that eating breakfast in the car is either normal or acceptable is not a good way to start.

That would mean getting up before 06:00 some mornings, so no, that would not be the healthiest or best solution.

Meanwhile, in the real world st happens sometimes.

A couple of pieces of fruit and a bottle of water in the back of the car every so often won't do any harm.

For who wink

On these mornings then, how much earlier are they going to school?

Presumably they have breakfast at home when mum's not working and then they get taken to school.

If the trip to school is that much earlier, is there a breakfast club they can attend?

You have to ask what to feed your own kids? Dear me.
Carrots, fruit.

What's unhealthy about that?

Not sure cereal bars are even suitable for dogs, let alone children.

Carrots, bananas or apples, with water.

Though, as others have said, far better to get up just a little earlier and give them a proper breakfast.

There is increasing evidence that breakfast is not healthy and contributing to the obesity epidemic. Cortisol (stress) soars between 6-10am and the body cannot digest food properly. Ancestors would hunt and gather in the morning and eat the pickings in the afternoon.

If breakfast must be taken in the car, a banana, <10 nuts, and bottled water is a good start to the day.

Jeeves: [waking him up] Good morning, Mr. Wooster.
Bertie Wooster: What? What's the time?
Jeeves: Ten past nine, sir.
Bertie Wooster: [irritated] Ten past nine!? Is the building on fire?
Jeeves: Not that I've been informed, sir, no.

I'll suggest ham and cheese sandwiches, can be made the night before. Could do some hard boiled eggs, or buy a jar of pickled eggs to go with it.
Though porridge is easy and quick to make in the microwave and doesn't take too long to eat -which would be preferred choice.
