Now I'm loving titanfall 2 and battlefield 1 but I'm getting really really fed up of snipers camping out! I can't be the only one ?

If they're 'camping', you know where they are so go and kill them when you respawn. It doesn't pay to hang around in one place too long in a fast paced FPS.

It's part of any FPS game - the only thing that is annoying is when people can 'spawn camp' near a respawn point and pick off people rejoining the game but most games these days take measures to stop that or at least make it very difficult.

Back in the days of Unreal Tournament, players would gang up and hunt down spawn campers.

^ all of the above.

camping snipers aren't very intelligent and you can adapt to them while they stay in the same place for the entire game. spawn camping isn't so fun when you're on the recieving end.

What I hate the more is 'head glitching'. It's not a glitch but rather where people will stand behind some cover or perfectly behind a hill so that a small part of their head is visible. making it hard for you to shoot them but they can spray you easy.

Counter snipe.. It is funny...

But yes there are games where half your team or more are sniping which means you don't get anywhere near the objective because you are the only t**t in your team in the enemy base..... It has always been the same in these games.

Sniping is great fun, getting that perfect headshot on someone sprinting full pelt from hundreds of metres away is one of the most satisfying things you can do in an FPS game which is why so many people do it.

However because of constant winging, snipers have been nerfed in most games to the point where they are mostly useless so they shouldn't really be giving you too many issues tbh. Try playing a game of Battlefield Bad Company to see a decent sniper absolutely owning the whole game and you'll be thankful for the lame arse sniping you get in games these days. wink

Funny enough I was surprised yesterday when I met a sniper camping on Titanfall2

First one I have seen in that particular game so I then made it my mission to hunt him down. Me performing a neck breaker execution on him while he was crouched in exactly the same spot he shot me from was probably annoying for him, but catching him 3 further times crouched on buildings or in corners while in my Tone and taking him out the 40mm was probably REALLY annoying. The final thing that probably annoyed him was when he re-spawned after the 4th kill and came after me. He then made the mistake of grapple hooking my Titan from the front and pulling himself right into a big metal swinging fist cool

In fact I know this was annoying for him because he then quit the game and sent me an abusive message for apparently 'trolling him' hehe

As others have said though, it is super annoying but also very much part of the game. Making it my sole purpose to hunt the snipers down once they have killed me once is also 'part of the game' for me.

ps. The really annoying snipers are the good ones who 'snipe and move'. God I hate those bds!

Yeah, the ones that run around in the thick of it and use a sniper rifle like an AK47 ffs.( which i have a grudging respect for as atleast I have a fighting chance)
360 no-scope mele bks

But then... in battlefield.. that why we have tanks and attack helicopters.

nuke to crack a nut. but so satisfying

That's why I loved that game and find most of the modern ones a headache inducing nightmare designed only for ADHD ravaged kids on their 7th RedBull of the morning.

Sneaking into a hiding place and shooting players that can't see you or where the shot came from, that's kind of the point of being a sniper, at least it's slightly realistic, well compared to a battle fought by 20 players all running around like headless chickens trying to beat the next guy to the draw by 0.0001 seconds. Cover, Tactics, Teamwork - nah - "Leeeeeeeeroy Jenkins, oh I'm dead, that's okay - I'm alive again, 8 deaths in 5 mins, oh well".

As others have said, it seems a lot of players don't like it, they like the Headless Chicken game, so they take away the hiding spots, give everyone a detailed replay of their death so they can find you, reduce the power of the weapons so a .50 rifle needs 2 headshots to kill someone.

It's annoying. I've been a massive online COD gamer for years and I still refuse to have a sniper class. Hate the things and it does encourage campers which can even up any skill gaps. It's worse when you watch the replay of your death and it's 5 seconds of a thermal scope pointing at a point on the map and then you run past and click, boom. Still, it can be fun to exact revenge as you know where they are for next time. I got final kill cam on ghosts the other day on the castle map. Got picked off right on the edge of the map by a fella lying prone in the grass. I used my fast run and gun 'silent' class to get back to his spot without him knowing. I just lay there in the grass behind him for about 20 seconds until the kill count reached 74 then stabbed him up the jacksy. The final kill cam was a peach.

I'd love a team death match game mode where snipers were not allowed. Some sort of run and gun TDM.

The last two posts are exactly the reason why you can't please everybody, some people love sniping and some people love running and gunning. Finding the fine balance that allows both types of players to have fun while playing together is the difficult bit. In BFBC snipers were probably a bit too overpowered whereas in BF4 you could get out-sniped by someone with a pistol from 300m which made sniping pretty much pointless.

It's the reason why I'm enjoying Modern Warfare Remastered so much at the moment because both the run and gun and sniping weapons seem so well balanced, apart from a few who abuse quick-scoping of course.

This is an age old "problem" that has the same answer across multiple games and platforms: adapt your style of play.

If you expect to play one style of play (class/weapon/vehicle/run and gun/snipe) in all situations in these types of FPS, you will often be dominated by at least one other style of play - the games are set up that way.

It just so happens that the easiest style of play for most people to master is the run and gun style of play, with reasonably short ranged weapons and frontal attack tactics. Now, guess what the most effective counter to that style of play is? Yes, sniping. Another effective counter is vehicles (which is why you also see "TANKS ARE OP!!1!" threads on forums).

So, you shouldn't be surprised if snipers dominate you if you insist on running short ranged weapons and running out of cover on reasonably open maps.

The solution is to counter snipe or use vehicles. My personal favourite is to counter snipe with vehicles. tank

My son is 15 and plays quite a lot of Titanfall2. I occasional watch him to show myself just how old I am getting as his reaction speeds and general command of the game is really quite impressive

What makes me laugh is that when he's playing he gets a torrent of abuse of the chat for hacking. Pretty much every game by about half way through he's getting abuse. Some of it is really quite nasty, and a particular one the other day included death threats.

If my wife had seen it the game would be immediately banned. I was quite shocked after initially thinking it was funny and my son doesn't even comment on it because for him its normal for complete strangers on the internet to issue death threats then rage quit.

How normal is this?

Very normal. I had all-sorts of abuse chucked my way on 2142. Probably not on the same scale as what the average kiddie cod player would say but raging and abuse would be there.

It's very frustrating if you get killed all the time by the same weapon/vehicle/player (I'm now thinking of jet/heli wes on bf2 mainly!!!!)

fairly normal. people just raging, kids raging. people don't really know what hacking/glitching/exploting is so they just say the wrong thing. there is alot of scum that play computer games unfortunately. I don't mean this in any racist way but I find the european players (spanish, italian) tend to be the most rude/vulgar.

if he gets actual threats through messages then he can report it and the person will have his account banned quite sharpish.

Yep pretty par for the course tbh which is why I usually mute chat if I am playing with randoms. It's easy enough to ignore it tbh, they are just venting, they aren't going to actually turn up at your door to carry out their threats.

On the other hand it can also be very satisfying owning people so much that they get wound up enough to rage quit.

Yep - mute chat from randoms and put settings so only "friends" can message you. Sorted.

It's pretty normal.

I get it all the time - yesterday I was winding up a yank on MW3 and the amount of abuse on the chat and by messages was hilarious. Doesn't bother me, but then I'm not a kid, and just makes me even more determined to shoot him in the face!

Can see why parents and particularly the youngsters would be affected though.

Haha. Awpnubs. Just come from the side with a made and a shotgun.

Now people that Re ninjas with a scout are different, they deserve respect. People moan about camping snipers but often are the same people sat behind the door in cbbl or behind the stairs boxes on office. Everyone running round in the open can have whatever opinion they want, but it's irrelevant because they've already been shot.

In BF1 I often get them with mortars, I find it quite good fun to get them with a mortar, lay low and when they return get them again! hehe - Often results in upset snipers!

I camp quite a bit in CS:GO DM, as it's DM and there are no rules in DM. Some people get upset and give me abuse but it's water off a ducks back.
