Ford Granada 2.8 Ghia
Discussion
My dad had an estate on a T plate - white 2.8GL. Brown cloth interior. Bog standard except he insisted on a manual box which was a special order. The 3 speed auto was standard on all the 2.8's as I recall.
It was a great car - roomy, super comfortable and with an unburstable long-legged feeling.
Certainly bore comparison with the 5 series BM's of the day although it was as big as a 7 series. Not something you could say of later big Fords. Epic boot that my sister and I used to sleep in on long journeys!
My Dad still says it had the best ride/handling compromise of any car he's ever owned.
Has to be said that the interior quality was a notch or two below that of the 5 series that replaced it though.

I must admit the fact it's an auto is a little bit of a let down for me when it's mated to that lovely engine(although it's still a smooth drive).
I loved both of my Sierra XR4x4's being a manual so I would imagine the 4x4 Granada to be a cracking motor, plus even when they were on sale they were seriously rare, so getting hold of one now would be ace.
Another Ford V6 fan then! I loved both of my Sierra XR4x4's being a manual so I would imagine the 4x4 Granada to be a cracking motor, plus even when they were on sale they were seriously rare, so getting hold of one now would be ace.
I had my MKII Granada Ghia, then two Capri 2.8 Injections before I got my 2.8i Scorpio!
The Scorpio was much better than the MKII as it had a 4 speed auto (and fuel injection).

Nice one and that's a lovely history, I can't tell you how much I'd love a Capri 2.8 Injection and it's a car I've wanted pretty much forever and I hope to get one eventually, although the prices do keep climbing!
I've had done since 1999 which I'm currently putting back on the road after an extended rest. They're great and really I should get rid of it. The problem is with the prices the way they are I'd never be able to afford another.cologne2792 said:

Yes and I think you should hang on to it and its great to hear you've had it for such a long time.
Thank you. The other issue is that an E46 or E92 3.0d coupe is great fun to drive, quicker off the line, uses half as much as fuel, is about 20+ mph faster and cheaper to buy and repair. But I suppose that's not really the point...cologne2792 said:

No contest!
It's actually referring to my 2.8i Capri. No contest!
I don't think I can ever be the sort of person who drives a BMW.
But I do like the way that a 3 series drives.
It's the only car that puts me in mind of a Capri to drive - just with all the rough edges knocked off and about twice the power.
I was brought up on RWD Escorts, Capris, Cortinas and drove a P100 for 8 years. I'm just a big fan of all things RWD.
