I assume the owner had just filled it up and forgotten to close the filler cap!
Scrolling through, I went, "Gordon Keeble, Alfa, Alfa. Oh, same Alfa. Three pictures of the same Alfa. No Gordon Keeble."

A cool story of mistaken identity.

The Croma has obviously been brought in from a sunnier climate.

Love this. A lot. Actually to my eyes still looks great even today. I recall they also brought some in with a 2.0 DOHC

This Croma looks to be an early (they were launched on a D Plate) 2.0 Super that was the mid specification. The Turbo version was a very rapid well appointed car. It’s just a shame that so many European manufacturers no longer serve this market.

There's another white one in/around central London.

In the UK, I think the Croma's problem was that it was a FIAT. The Type 4 chassis spawned good cars, but compared to its SAAB, Alfa Romeo and Lancia brethren the Croma was always the bottom of the pile. No doubt FIAT intended it to be that way, but given UK buyers' draw to "prestige" in this sector, it's no surprise very few were cherished. It doesn't help that the Croma was the ugly duckling of the quartet either, but they were good, capable cars and seemed to resist rust better than many of FIAT's other offerings at the time.

I can't remember the last time I saw one in the wild, however.

Remember the Croma well, had a colleague in Italy that had a 1.9 diesel... it was comfortable and quite refined, but the scuttle shake on the paved roads of Bergamo's cita alta was really shocking. Never noticed the same issues in the 164 or Thema...

I had a Croma 2.0 ie Turbo.
I can confirm it was pretty quick and handled OK but had electrical gremlins which kept lighting up "lamp out " faults randomly. Usually bad earths, but I could never get it working.

With the back seats down, you had the exact space to fit a Kart in the back!

I’d be taking the cool Croma Turbo over a Saab 9000 every time, notwithstanding the cost saving over choosing the Italian.
However of all the Type 4 cars I would take a 3.0 164 First followed by a 2.0 Turbo Charged Thema.

never driven one, but how about such Volvo Amazon with a Honda 243ps engine, pretty cool I thought, also a nice interior, not bad money for such classic in that state.

Thema 8.32 has to be on top of list simply for rarity of its drivetrain layout.

Yes please, followed by a v6 164 (with no bodykit)
