At the NEC - £37,500. Surely not an original colour?
It almost looks 'brown' in that photo but looking on the vendor's (Hurst Park) website it's actually Opalescent Maroon, which was an optional colour for a few years. I like it but think that's possibly the first MK2 that I've seen in that colour, although there were plenty of S-Types in it. I can't post a link, but it also has an unusual Tiger Stripe wood finish on the dash, a first for me.

love the Steed avengers car, also like E-types, but not the wheels so far in the body... so I like E-types that are upgraded so to speak, like some looks of race cars lightweights.

also like this pictures somebody posted, just wow, why don't they make a few more, but then I guess those would cost 700-800k, maybe then a good -Tribute -Recreation -Evocation of such to keep it under 100k incl a great engine and so on all in driving

or a XJR-15 also light and powerful

and ah, what I said about a Jag E-type and the wheels far in the body (standard)

this is more how I like it, there are more but this was on my PC first I came across.

Having the wheels way inside the body on an old E-Type is half the charm ... !

6.5 inch center-laced wheels with 205s are a pretty good compromise in a road car I find.
Pushes them out into the corners without needing to modify the wheel arches and you can still get around bends without rubbing.

You could have bought this after the CCA sale at the NEC for £9750!

Presume someone has already then?

I don't believe so, or it would have ended up listed on the CCA website as sold. It is possible, though.

But that silver S1 that sold at the NEC that last ran in 1998 went for roughly £5800 - how can this green one be worth only slightly more - I don't understand!
Because there isn't a huge void between project car and a running one. Look at the boot photo of the green one and the fuel pumps, it isn't a perfect car and will need work too. I think someone paid strong money for the Daimler, but then it is a rare thing and it is possible the buyer is hoping that they will get it on the road for minor expenditure (where I would be saying at a very minimum you'd want fuel tanks, pumps, lines, brakes, tyres, suspension work, carb rebuild and plenty more. It is also possible that they just bought it because they really want it.

One of my neighbours has an Opalescent Maroon 3.4 auto identical to that. In fact, given that we're less than 2 miles from the vendor I wonder if it is his. Very nice.

Having just googled Jaguars in Opalescent Maroon, the car at the NEC was definitely not that colour … it was much more brown - which is why I questioned it being an original colour.

The current state of used cars is such a deplorable excuse for a car, I think I might buy and XJ6 S1 and drive it.

Lovely clean looking usable car that - not a standard factory colour but it certainly suits it.

Anglia Car Auctions on Sunday just gone.....£660 all in. A late 4.2 injection, a runner I think.

It's scrap, but invaluable as a source of spares.
