Australian Doctor's Car Badge, #2063, from New South Wales, c1928.
These plates were issued by the BMA (British Medical Association) from 1928. Badges were affixed to doctors' vehicles to allow them to be seen by other motorists so they could be given way to attend to medical emergencies. In the early 1970s doctors were advised to remove these plates to prevent cars being broken into by criminals searching for drugs.
