Between '63 and '66 this Shelby Cobra had a busy life in top-level motorsport, Gurney & Miles being 2 of its top-notch conductors.

The sublime CSX 2128.

More than a little Transit Mk3 here. The GAZelle commercial vehicle range. The local content mechanicals include a 2134cc diesel amongst other choices.

Dave McDonald and wife Sherry at the 1963 Hawaiian Grand Prix in Cobra 289 CSX2136.

McDonald would lead for a while but was ultimately beaten by the King Cobra of Craig Lang, although he managed to hold second ahead of Ken Miles in another 289.

2137 - could be another CSX - the "Le Mans Cobra" that never got the chance to eat burnt Merguez or drink lukewarm Muscadet (it didn't make it to France).

However we'll go for the rather terrifying RS200 Evo, equipped with a BDT stretched to 2137cc.

I was going to buy a set of those Middlebridge alloys to fit on my TR6, but couldn't find confirmation the offsets etc would be OK. Very few alloys look good on TRs – none actually, that I can think of – but I think those would look OK.

In UK motorsport history few racing cars were more successful than the Moskvich 412.

From this car evolved the even faster and more luxurious 2140. I think nappy brown set if off nicely :

The thread lives ! I was going to let it wither on the vine but maybe there’s some life in it yet.

I might just get my Lotus Sunbeam reference in later this week…..
