Ahem,

Nice that a Lotus Carlton or M5 is.... but the idea of shoe-horning a big engine into a saloon car to get an 'eager' drive started with this car.....

Ah thanks for the heads up. I now stand corrected.

EDrF : Yes mate that would be the one, unless like my M3 they have the limmiter removed then it may well give the hard hitting Lotus a bit of a fright

Errr That's a *bit* newer than a Carlton!!!

I think a year for year model-comparison would only be fair!

Time for a bit of threar resurrection.

I'm thinking this may be a great way to source something interesting at a decent cost.

Trying to get my head around the costs of something like this - http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2013...

It is quite frustrating to see from the initial responses what was available for £15k only 9 years ago. I considered a DBS at the time (although think they were more like 20 for a decent one).

Should have put my pension money into some of these cars ...

You could get a decent series fhc for that 10 years ago. It wasn't until the 50th anniversary year (2011) that E types started to go really stupid and have never looked back (unlike me...).

Old topic but I'm intrigued.

Would it not be possible to buy a old classic such as a mini or old fiesta with hardly any original value.
Naturally old cars carry more service bills and running costs (like the replacement cosworth 2.0 engine and all round coilovers) bills that run through the company and off the tax bill ?
