Have seen a real diverse group on the road today... M25: a replica of the Ghost Busters Ambulance being towed northbound near M3 Jctn, followed shortly by a grey coloured Citroen DS. Then followed this near Gatwick...the owner looked comfortably 'at home'

Visiting a local Car Breaker Yard today produced the following old and fairly cool classics. First, not a breaker but a 1971 Triumph Herald Estate in daily use. Parked next to him and had a chat with the enthusiastic young owner. Car at least ten years older than him... Also there was a Rover 2000 TC and Morris 1000 put to one side. Not for breaking I suspect. This well run yard usually puts old Brit cars to one side for parts removal or restoration. They can be seen tucked away in the yard for anything up to twelve months with that purpose in mind. Modern foreign stuff go into the crusher toot sweet. They got their priorities right in my opinion. Some of the tidy modern stuff folks throw away defies belief on occasion. Often tidy cars with long MoT and even with more than a month's road tax still on the screen! Here's the Rover and the Morris :~ There was a very tidy Rover 45 in the yard which provided a couple of parts I was after. Another car one wonder why it was there. Must have lost a few pounds in the heat getting those few parts off the car though. Very hot today. No bad thing, I need to lose a few pounds anyway ... bonus... Next to the Rover I was working one was a well spoken Polish guy removing lots of stuff from a large People carrier. He was after the Turbocharger. Had an interesting chat with him too. Nearby was another chap with origins obviously from the Indian sub-continent who asked to borrow one of my tools. I jokingly said to him maybe he was more used to the heat and he said no. He was born in London and had a similar accent to my own... Anyway, he was able to get the Throttle Postion Sensor of a Jap car with my tools. A productive day all round.

In Airmyn today a 1909 Riley, heading towards Snaith a silver Morgan, in Castleford a white Capri Laser 2.0, near the roundabout by M&S Pudsey a Lotus Elan front wheel drive type and at the BP garage between Heckmondwike and Cleckheaton a Citroen 2CV in Kermit green. All while enjoying the sunshine and cruising in my X1/9.

It's going to be a big day out there on the roads today, lots of delicious machinery, I'm sure. I've already seen a friend in a Fiat 500 pottering around Midhurst and a 1932 Rolls Royce being decorated for the local farm shop owner's son's wedding - and it wasn't even 10.30 yet. (Oh, plus me in the Facellia of course - thanks James for getting it through its MoT yesterday).

The Maestro really did look clean but it was on the other side of the road
