is it money? - I want itis it imperial ratchet tools? - yes, yes, yes
is it any of my clothing? - stop helping yourself to my clothing
if it's anything to do with P5s traveling 10 miles before they and their owners have to stop with exhaustion - it can wait

Yes, I am the East Mids P5 Club rep. If you want to come over and have a poke around my car you are welcome. Subframe, Engine and gearbox are out at the moment so you can get to see bits you might not otherwise see.
If you drop me a PM we can arrange something. Also let me now more details of what you want (pristine or project and budget) and I'll ask around and keep my ears open for a car for you.
Meanwhile a petty engine bay:
Great - will send you a PM! Nice tidy 'nerve centre' you've got there too ;-)If you drop me a PM we can arrange something. Also let me now more details of what you want (pristine or project and budget) and I'll ask around and keep my ears open for a car for you.

Thanks but it was taken about 5 years ago when the new engine went in. It didn't look like that when I took the engine out in October as 5 years of use (despite what 'na' says) takes its toll.Should be close to that when it goes back together again and nice and shiny in the subframe department as well.

Took this on the way home from work one night, during the period of about eight months when it was my everyday car... I only live two miles from my place of work, but some nights I'd go for a good long drive just for the hell of it!

Difficult question and subjective I know, but can anyone give an idea of what a good example of these cars is like to drive ?
Find a good one and it'll drive like the proverbial dream... finger light power steering once you're on the move which takes a bit of getting used to, but you can pootle along at motorway speeds at ease then squeeze your big toe and watch the horizon get a lot closer very quickly. Power delivery is very smooth and once you get used to the steering you can throw it about more than you'd expect, although roundabouts take a bit of preperation on approach, as these old barges do tend to dive in at the front end if provoked too much. The view down that big bonnet is rather good as you waft along.... ;-)As I sit here typing this I'm remembering the drive home on the day I bought mine in Ely, thrumming along the A14 at a fair old pace back to Warwickshire, passing a lot of other cars with ease. The looks and comments it got from other punters at the petrol station en route were a combination of 'Lovely old motor mate' and 'that's nice, what is it?'. Wonderful!

I'm new to them but I agree, mine drives well, tight corners aren't something to hurry but on a flowing A road it's great. Dad and I did a 200 mile round trip today in mine (A41/M54/M6/M5/M42/M40 and back) and it went like a train, despite some pretty iffy weather. Super comfy seats are fab also.As I sit here typing this I'm remembering the drive home on the day I bought mine in Ely, thrumming along the A14 at a fair old pace back to Warwickshire, passing a lot of other cars with ease. Good man ;O)
There's definitley something about them which only shows up when you drive one, especially on a longer trip... you can feel the engineering that's gone into them when you're behind the wheel, a turbine-like smoothness which is hard to describe accurately... my P6B is similar due to it's power steering, in fact you feel more like a 'pilot' than a 'driver' if that makes sense... ;-)
Took the P6B out for a waft earlier today and as much as I love it, I really want another P5B.

One of the reasons I'm looking forward to getting mine back on the road with new bushes is that over the 10 years I've had it the ride had definitely deteriorated. Even so it was still better than the vast majority of modern cars and one with good bushes and suspension set up correctly is very comfortable to put it mildly.
They can be driven quickly
The MGB was falling behind on the corners and catching me on the straights!
The body does roll too
This was before I fitted the new mildly uprated engine

These are really super old cars. I have much experience of sitting in the back of both a saloon registered JPP...G in white with brown trim, and a Coupe registered LUX...F in brown with grey roof and plum trim. These were both owned by my best friends family and were stunning machines. I regularly got collected from school and driven the 22 miles from Shrewsbury to Church Stretton in Shropshire after school in one or other of these. My pals Mum could really drive and the old Rover speedo use to touch well over 100 mph on the straight bits, I vividly remember how safe it felt at this speed compared to my Dads Zodiac and how much the speedo needle wavered at that speed. I cannot remember the rest of the registrations but I wonder whether they still exist. I know my pal would have dearly loved to get one back.
