May have posted these before (not checked all 260+ pages!)... couple of slides taken by Mrs G's grandfather, believed to be the NALGO camp car park at Croyde in Devon, early 70's at a guess.

And bringing things more up to date, well around 1990. Mrs G's photos from our holiday in Herriot country...

I've only been off-line for a day and a half, and there's a host of fascinating new photos to study.

Great thread.

that's Leyburn
United bus in the background of one shot, they split up and were renamed shortly before going pop completely around 1990 (read about the 'Darlington bus war' for a historic moment in UK buses)
I worked for them in 1989 as a young whippersnapper, at the old central works next door to Darlington's Feethams ground, it's Sainsbury's now I believe

They are pre 1931 (short wheelbase) models.

I'm guessing that the photo is about 1929.

They're holding cardboard periscopes of the type used to watch sporting events in a dense crowd. Makes you wonder what their destination was.

Number 1 is Harrogate, taken from about 2/3 of the way down Montpellier Hill.

The bigger building is the old Harrogate Advertiser office, before it closed down and became a Slug & Lettuce. There's also the Montpellier pub, home for many years to the world famous 'Gyrating Geoff'.

There's a surprising lack of cars in that photo, it will be full of white Range Rovers today.

The green Granada behind the Nova in the first pic and the silver Carlton far right in the second image would place these late 80's - I can't see anything newer than these 2, c '87.
