Talking about trucks and lorries, can anyone confirm the make of this unfortunate lorry from 1950 Merthyr Tydfil accident, Is it a Crossley?:
Keith [UK]
Looks like a WD Bedford, probably war surplus; wiki says a Bedford OY.Keith [UK]
Edit; it's probably an OXD, short wheelbase general service.

I think the bike in the b&w shots is not the same as the colour ones, headlight nacelle is slightly different between the two, so your Dad's memory is spot on for the early one being a 3TA and the blue one being a 5TA.
Definitely different bikes. There is about 10 years between the colour and the monochrome photos.Looks like an early Honda Cub in the background of the picture showing my mums bike. Pretty glad we no longer have to show a numberplate over the front mudguard. God help any pedestrian if you hit them!
Not sure what the red moped is behind my dad, other than it obviously being a Honda. Any Ideas?

A Few random Isle of man shots from 1957, I brought a new scanner so thought I would try it out, not bad results considering the transparencies are from 1957 and on AGFA film.

Great pictures, just one point. Whitmore Reans is in Wolverhampton, I had a girlfriend at Wolves Poly in the 1980s who lived on Clifford St; the same view today on Google Street View(minus a couple of buildings).https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.5939354,-2.14549...

It should probably be compulsory for tram drivers to have heroic whiskers, a bowler hat, gloves and a well-fastened mackintosh. Bus inspectors on the other hand definitely benefit from peaked caps and greatcoats, unlike the fluorescent tabard-wearing scruffbags you see loitering at bus stops these days.I thought it about time we had a Tramathon?:

The tin hats suggest despatch riders, but the garb, the variety of different bikes and their number plates, the general chromeyness and lack of khaki drab suggests a dad's army or postwar volunteer reserve/territorial unit of some kind.
I'd say it was early war period (late 1939/early 1940) Civil Defence Service DR's.Great photo.
Number plates seem to be predominately midlands issue around 37/38.
