How about a 'period' classics pictures thread

You bought a Granada when you were 20?....... Do you smoke a pipe as well?
I had a 1982 Granada estate in I think 1991 when I was about 18. A red 2.3GL with grey velour interior, and a little joystick on the dash to direct sound to the speakers (well the working ones anyway...). Great car it was, and the estate was very handy for getting loads of mates in. It did mean I was usually designated driver, but I always preferred to drive myself than rely on mates not being pissed.Pat H said:

Ah the Ford Granada 2.8 GLS in Oyster Gold and with it's unique Michelin TRX clad alloys. Those on the Ghia looked the same but were smaller. Exactly like mine except I had the "Tobacco" vynil rood and "Chocolate" upholstery. It was one of the best cars I ever owned being quick, quiet, very comfortable and that Golde sunroof was totally silent when cruising at 95/100 mph (which it did rather a lot!). Mine was VTC900T and survived until October 1995 although by then with a 2.3l engine. I last saw it around 1990 parked but still in use although missing both interior door panels and most of the dashboard panel. A good GLS would still be a nice car even now.Possibly the best car Ford has ever made?
Mum had a 1978 2.8 GL in silver, which took us from Lancashire to StTropez in 1980. Fast, comfortable, reliable and a damn good looking car.
Miles better than the jellymold Granada Scorpio that replaced it.
George Cowley always had great taste in cars.
I'm not sure that these are quite "period" classic pictures, but I'm going to post them anyway.
Forgive me if they aren't in the spirit of the thread.
This is my elder daughter, sitting on a 1976 750 Bonnie that I owned for ten years and rebuilt in 1997.
Same daughter, different Triumph. Here she is a few years later on a 1977 Trident that I swapped the Bonnie for. Must be about 1999.
And finally, just to make everyone feel old, here she is again. April 2012, just turned 16, this time on her own bike.

For a few months until it dissolved in the winter.Anyway, we travelled there from Leicestershire roof-up in a 1275 MG Midget (PUT90G). As you can imagine, it was a tight fit for Mum and Dad up front, with me (aged 7) and my brother (aged 9) on the "back seat".
We got stopped near the Welsh border by a policeman. He was concerned about the impaired rearward visibility of the car, due to the luggage piled on the boot rack. He didn't even mention the 2 kids bent double on the parcel shelf!
We were allowed to continue on our merry way and finally arrived at the cottage. Unfortunately it was up a steep hill and we all had to get out and help push the long-suffering and overloaded Midget the final few yards!
The ubiquitous Jubilee photo like the one above, but with home-made UK and Welsh flags followed.
