One more image from Germany. OK the car was already 20 years old back then, but another 20 years have since passed, so it's probably relevant now. It was a beige round rear light 2002 manual.

Hmm...well it didn't look like that to me but I see this old ambulance is still registered until next December. I'm thinking this is a "travellers" camper van and the picture taken about the early 1980's. It was probably out of emergency service about 1978/80 so that would seem to tie up. Maybe the owner is reading this though with a bit of a smile!scratchchin

Heres an interesting one,no date but post '56 as the Mk2 Ford Consul was introduced that year I think, the car looks great with white walls and sun visor. The loco is an Ivatt 2-6-2 tank loco.

Heres one just dated circa 1950 Greenhill Sheffield apperently a run away coal lorry demolishded the telegraph pole falling between 2 cars doing no damage!I can easily recognise the XK120 Citroen Traction Avanti and an Austin but what else do we have thier is the chap to the right leaning on a Bentley Mk VI and the car next to the XK looks like a Jag Mk IV as for the others particularly the 2 little sports cars I'm sure someone can help.

I think the large American car is a Buick or La Salle. To the far right are a Triumph Renown and what appears to be a Rover P3 of some sort. The two small sports cars are almost certainly "specials" which were commonplace at the time. These two are so tiny I suspect they are built on Austin 7 chassis.

Does anyone have old photos of the Ace Cafe? I was upstairs the other day and they have some posters with old photos up there telling the story of the cafe.

When I was a kid, and I'm 59 now, I used to go to Saturady morning flicks. Is that La Salle the car that I saw Batman drive?

Agreed the Standard Vanguard Phase I from 1949 onwards but the two "specials" are not the home built Austin Seven/ Ford 8 based creations but are rather more professional..the left hand car is I'm sure a 1949 Healey Silverstone Sports and the right hand one looks closely like a Swallow Doretti but the grille is just too narrow so I'm working on that. I do recall the car clearly but not quite the name!rolleyesscratchchin
