In 40 years I've forgotten the precise details about the car...
I soon realised that the car was a bit of a heap, the drivers floor was made of a couple of old oil cans riveted in place.I pretty soon sold the hardtop as I found the soft top to be more weatherproof. I sold the wire wheels, because the spokes rattled, and replaced them with steel wheels, and ditched the fog lights in favour of Cibie spotlights. Also changed the grill for a GT6 one, and fitted fibreglass rear wings and sills. It then looked like this...

Are those extra lights inboard by the overriders?
Yes, I think they were old fashioned 'fog' lights, and useless too.garyfrogeye said:
Interesting hardtop, Is that a Lenham?
I don't think it was a Lenham, I recall that they were more attractive with long side windows and a side mounted fuel filler.Huntsman said:
Or Ashley?
It may have been an Ashley - it was on the car when I bought it. It was pretty useless, letting water into the boot and into the doors, it created a terrible blind spot, and the fuel filler was central to the rear window and connected to the fuel tank by a piece of plastic pipe without any significant means of preventing fuel from escaping. I fitted perspex quarter windows into the hardtop to improve visibilty.I soon realised that the car was a bit of a heap, the drivers floor was made of a couple of old oil cans riveted in place.I pretty soon sold the hardtop as I found the soft top to be more weatherproof. Very nice with it's rare h/top, body coloured wheels & the lights are nicely mounted. I'll bet it made you feel great.RichB said:
bviously not because the very things you highlight are the things he changed
Looking back 40 years I now feel it's more interesting to see the car with the accessories rather than without. At the time the car was nearly 10 years old and I wanted a car that looked newer not older and therefore felt justified in changing to the steel wheels and trendy 'Cibie' spotlights.Wait until you see what I did with my Triumph Vitesse MkII.
