This is our Morris Minor Traveller, 677 XMU. My pictures start in 1964, I don't know exactly when the car was bought but I know they did buy it new.

Here it is in Northern France (Bois de Boulogne) in '64:

The next year ('65) we took it on the train down to Switzerland, here's it being loaded (me watching at the side):

and here's it being unloaded. It's my Dad driving in both pictures, Health and Safety would have kittens these days!

This is one of its last appearances, September '68 at Trentham Gardens. I remember we kept it for several years more as a second car, but we bought another car as our main car so the Traveller didn't appear in holiday pictures any more.

The tent had by now been replaced by a caravan, and I'm demonstrating my supermodel posing!

Glad that people are enjoying these!

The next few date again from the mid '60s and are relatives' cars.

To explain the first, it's at a wedding, my uncle worked for the company that printed wrappers for Mars so they used wrappers to decorate the car!

Meanwhile, we had gone a bit up-market with ETC 626E, a Singer Vogue estate bought in mid '68:

Here we are picnicking in France in '71:

Yorkshire campsite in '73 (Pateley Bridge). If you look carefully, you will see the Vogue slightly right of centre, then the caravan to the left, then a tent, and then (half hidden)...

Well, fancy that, the Traveller is there as well! I've no idea why we took both cars, but we could well have been meeting up with our relatives from the Dewsbury area.

1973, a dinner break with friends on the Fern Pass in Austria:

1975, a rather cold Easter at Sedbergh. The car has had a respray, so is now a rather lighter shade of blue than before:

More to follow in a day or two...

If it is (and going by the rear side window glass, it almost certainly is) then the fella in the tie is sat right on the fuel filler cap.

Some geek memories for any caravanners on here:

Morf said:
On the roof of the car here is a Retrovisor. This was apparently made by Burden, it was a periscope that allowed the driver to see behind through the windows of the caravan.

I remember once we had it on the car (without the van) and a Frenchman pointed to it and said "Qu'est ce que c'est?" My Dad tried to explain in French that it was for seeing behind a caravan but the guy just didn't understand.

Eventually in frustration my Dad said "C'est un Retrovisor". The Frenchman immediately replied "Ah! Retroviseur!", nodded and smiled and went away quite happy.

We only found out later that Retroviseur is the French for "Rear view mirror"!

The caravans are both Fleetwind, made in Freckleton near Preston. Ours is the 12 foot version (family of 4), our friends' was the larger 14 foot - but they did have 5 children!

You could choose the colour of the stonechip panel at the bottom of the front and rear: ours was light blue, ISTR theirs was beige. It was made of a corrugated or ribbed plastic.

We only lived about 15 miles from the factory. I don't remember if we bought the van directly from the factory, but I do remember that the rear light lenses were broken (or stolen) once while it was in storage, and we took a trip down to the factory to buy replacements.

I've found another picture which doesn't have those pesky humans getting in the way of the cars!

From this we can see that the boat is on the back of the Anglia which appears in another picture. The fella in the tie is my cousin who was keen on water skiing so I think the Anglia was his - I vaguely remember him having one.

YUM 199 was his Dad's car, though it looks like he borrowed it for the holiday when the "stuck in the ford" and Seaforth pictures were taken.

That 'stuck on the ford' picture looks like it was taken in the Trough of Bowland out the back of Lancaster / Preston.

Certainly possible, they were living in the Dewsbury / Mirfield area, and we were near Blackpool.

The Seaforth hotel appears to be in Arbroath. The pictures may have been taken at separate times.

My parents had an early Mini Traveller (pre 1964) in that colour.

I keep trying to work out which of the many shades of blue it actually is. I remember it having a slightly grey tint to it, certainly not as bright blue as many you see.

Looking here, I think it's Clipper blue, but still not 100% sure.

This is my great Grandad in his works van, I believe circa 1912. I know nothing about it but it looks like a Fiat badge? Would be very grateful for any info anybody could provide so I can pass it back through the family.

Later he became a chauffeur and drove a Daimler. I am waiting for a pic of the Daimler but I think it was a 1950's one (when Daimler were owned by BSA), will post when I receive it in the next week or so

'tis very similar to the period 'Ford' logo, from the days before the 'blue oval'.

I enlarged the image, and it definitely looks like 'Fiat', but I can be of no use to you in identifying which particular model. My knowledge of 'tween the wars commercial vehicles is virtually non-existent.

Definitely a Fiat, possibly a pre-WW1 FIAT 15, similar to this one: http://www.prewarcar.com/prewar-my-prewarcar/share...

They were also used widely by the Allies during WW1.
