I seem to remember that Court-line were part of Clarksons. When I was a kid, we were on a cruise with them on a Greek liner, in Turkish waters when the Greek Cypriot war broke out. At the same time as Clarksons went bust. As a child I was oblivious of all this and all that I knew was we had an extra week's holiday and ended up in Palermo instead of Istanbul!
You're right about Clarksons http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Court_Line. We flew with them in '72 so before all the problems, I remember them giving out lots of goodies including a cardboard push-out airport for the children... this may be why they went bust!Morf said:
I think the yellow car is a Cortina Mk2, and the white estate is an Escort Mk1. Agree with you on the rest.
I'm struggling on the brown saloon as well. It looks vaguely like a Zodiac Mk4 but I'm not sure, even with the help of the original picture!
The picture is dated 1981 if that helps.
The brown car - could that be a Victor FB? They used to come with a contrasting stripe down the side. Or was that just the VX4/90?I'm struggling on the brown saloon as well. It looks vaguely like a Zodiac Mk4 but I'm not sure, even with the help of the original picture!

A couple of zooms at original resolution that might help...
You're correct about the Escort, I hadn't remembered just how similar the rear of Mk1 and Mk2 estates were, it looks like a T plate which would make it '78-79 Mk2.

Identical behind the A-pillar, apart from the wide spaced F O R D across the door on the Mk1 estate. My first car was a Mk2 estate. You're correct about the Escort, I hadn't remembered just how similar the rear of Mk1 and Mk2 estates were, it looks like a T plate which would make it '78-79 Mk2.
That yellow car is definitely an Escort Mk1. The chrome finish along the roof gutter goes straight to the rear window, but on a Cortina Mk2 it goes down the line of the rear door.

Take your point, it's not a Cortina. The body lines are very much Escort Mk1, but there appears to be a chrome air vent on the C pillar catching the light. I don't remember there being such a vent on a Mk1. That yellow car is definitely an Escort Mk1. Hi Morf, Great photo collection,
This photo is taken of the Shakespeare Hotel in my home town, Stratford upon Avon, and I reckon that is my Aunt's Ford Anglia parked outside. I presume thats your folks moggy squeezed in between it and a Triumph Herald.

just look how colourful this car park is, not the sea of blue/grey we have now
So much to like here! A good few Japanese for me to look at, including the very odd Datsun 200SX, plus some proper 1960s/70s land yachts.Spottedlaurel said:
