Might be, I thought it was a Fiat 127.
It looks tiny in comparison to the other cars. I was thinking Honda N600, but not sure that is correct.
Fiat 126 ?
The upward slope on the rear window says 127 to me.

127

126

it just looks much skinnier than the R5 and the Imp, both of which would be almost identical width to a 127

Used to have a 127 and a Renault 5, both very similar size, this looks more microcar sized

Just noticed the 504 Peugeot in row 1, next to the Maxi.

Apart from a couple of Beetles and the aforementioned Type 3 VW Variant, there is a distinct shortage of Germans.

Agree, the crease in the rear three quarter panel and the low slung chrome bumper also fit with a 127.

B.D. & C.A. Giles, Harp Road Garage, South Petherton mid-late 1970s by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

Sent to me by the son of the garage owner, if it wasn't for that Chrysler this shot would look more like the 1960s. They later sold Colt/Mitsubishi before the site was demolished for A303 improvement works.

1979 Peugeot 304 SL Estate and Renault 5 GTL (1988) by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

A couple of now-rare French-mobiles. If I see any 304s and more than half a dozen 5s when I go to France soon I'll be surprised/happy.

1928-30 Austin 7 Swallow by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

A surprise find in my wife's family photo collection (she is neither of the ladies here!).

Had a Chrysler Horizon as a company vehicle, a very capable motor it was too.

The Horizon (and Alpine, as above) always seemed to be terribly rattly as petrol-engined models, though I believe the diesel Horizon to have been reasonably well-regarded.

Is there a Fiat 3p next to an Alfasud, 5th row in line with big ben?
To be strictly pedantic it is a 128 SL Coupe, not a 3P.

I had forgotten how recently that was a surface car park - I guess the clue is in the name now - Jubilee Gardens - was re landscaped in 1977 and again in 1994 after they'd sunk a grout shaft for the jubilee line extension through it. They lost the last vestige of surface parking there at the same time.

Photos of that era always remind me that, back in the day, premium cars were.....errr.....premium; only one XJ6, no Mercedes and relatively few Rovers

Not my experience at all, mine was a petrol, they were well regarded at the time and IMO rightly so.

We had a new black Talbot Horizon 'Special' in 1980. It was a good car, 1500cc petrol and quite lively at that time. Had the silver stick on vinyls off pretty soon though.

Pic I found on the web of the very same:

I posted this in the hot rod thread, but is probably deserving of reposting here.

Lovely (and rare) colour shot from probably around 1950/51, of the famous Pierson Brothers '34 Ford coupe behind Bob Piersons 'customised' '36 Ford 'tow car'. From the look of the ground surface I'd say this was more likely taken at one of the speed events on the California dry lakes rather than at Bonneville.

looks like a brown MkIII Cortina next to the HA Viva van, and a Hillman Avenger 'above' the Red HC Viva, which would mean it was 1970 at least

(White Fiat 128 too, from 1969 earliest)
edit: just read UK launch of the 128 was 1970
ladies and gentlemen of the jury, the prosecution rests wink

edit HC, yeah that's what i meant wink
