Mum seemed to accept the car-obsession in the household then?!

1986 outside my parents’ house, 3 brothers with 3 different marques and my mum sitting on my Monte’s bonnet. With my dad’s Citroën diesel Visa tucked away down the side.
Great photo, the Alfa looks ace!

A couple more from the local slide collector. First one is a CA camper being loaded onto a ship of some sort, dated July 1968 on the slide itself.

And I can't see where this is, dated October 1975 on the slide. The station sign looks as if it's "somewhere Central", but unsharp mask doesn't help.

Interesting there's only two or three foreign cars there - the Mercedes, early Moskvich behind the Dolomite, and perhaps a Peugeot poking out from behind that orange Allegro.

I-spy an Imp next to the Rover, and is that a 2-door Ford Classic behind the MGB GT ?

I'm guessing Didcot but what was the occasion?

Not Didcot, about 200 miles further North, keep guessing. smile

The location would give away the event.

You could probably date it roughly by the cars.

Hmmmn.... nothing I can see any newer.

In the second pic, I can see a W114/5 Merc, the green Fiesta, Mk 1 Escort, Mini ?, Mini Clubman, an Ital and a Maxi. So....the Ital if it is one, would place it at least 1980 then...

I think the Capri S dates the pic later than '77. As would the dark blue (maybe black) car next to the Cortina MK3 which I see as a MK4.

What about the red Arrow Hillman next to those, Do I remember rightly that the facelifted one was badged as a Chrysler?

Complete wild stab in the dark, is it the closure of the power station at Sheffield/Rotherham?

it's 1979.
A gathering of Steam Locomotives like this (to my knowledge) only happened twice, it was a pretty special 150th year celebration.

Yes that's it, I had it as 79, faded memories and faulty archives.
It's the Liverpool and Manchester Railway, Rainhill Trials celebration.
