Before anyone asks, there doesn't seem to be a bike equivalent, so here we are. Nearly 24 years ago. I hammered around the orchard, then tried a friend's bike, forgetting it was on road tyres. The inevitable happened, the exhaust was on my leg, and I have the mark to this day. But do I get a Gold Star for the post?

Hardly Gold Stars, but here are three bikes which show my elder daughter growing up:

1976 750 Bonneville back in 1998.

1974 750 Trident back in 2000.

And, to bring it almost up to date, here she is on her moped in 2012.

Here's my last bike in 1997 which is as chalk is to cheese. A VFR 800. Smooth, plenty of torque, could scratch but was a superb long distance tourer. We did the circuit of Wales one day and while friends on their R1 &6s were complaining of sore behinds, I was serene. So comfortable. But I can't remember who the girl is!

Apologies if I have posted this before. A very grainy Polaroid picture looking out the window of work at 1161 Chester Road, Erdington, Birmingham looking at the Hardy Spicer main office with my '67 Sprite in the foreground. Taken around 1969/70. It is now a retail park!
