There are loads more but apparently you're not allowed to post them unless you have ownership of the original photo through at least three generations of family provenance confused

Mrs C and I went to the States in 1993 and met up with the Southern California AMOC for their annual trip from Los Angeles to Monterey for the Car Week & Concours. The local area rep and his wife took us under their wing and said we would share the drive in their DB4 and V8. In the event, the DB4 was poorly and in a gesture even more generous said they would use their daily and we would take the V8. California State Route 1 in August. Let me tell ya. Lovely time. In addition to an overdose of cars, we even went to see the area John Steinbeck wrote about in Cannery Row and Sweet Thursday. There are a lot of pictures, I could bore you witless. But this one I had to share. The owner said he had an idea for some pics on the return run - a deserted beach, miles of sand, tide out, what could possibly go wrong?

He really didn't deserve that one freak wave. Mrs C has always said she regrets laughing.

Seeing the Webasto sunroof I'm reminded that they were massively popular back then - everyone punching holes in the roof. Someone must have made a fortune?

Very nice 2000. Is it the 'custom' trim (is that the correct designation for the upmarket type)?

I have a suspicion they were all Custom by 1980...? The basic one replaced the unloved Mexico in 1978, and buyers were equally disinterested so Ford quietly dropped it.

Yes still on the road and last time I heard was in Scotland. I was told at the time it was built in the last month of production for the Mk2. Never really liked the Terracotta with chocolate brown interior colour but is very desirable now.
The glass sunroof was fitted from new and I changed it to a better one as the old one leaked. It now has a full length Webasto.
Bought from Mike Youngs in Ilford and at the time, I could have had the S reg RS1800 he had in stock for less money!

Thinking about the demise of the Land Rover [That is what they used to be known as, Defender is a much later name] Here are 6 new Landies in 1961 being issued to Birmingham Police.:
Sorry this is a 'resurrection' post but I am working my way through this great thread. Just to show how relatively indestructible landies are, I checked out th status of these cars today. 223 EVP, 224 EVP, and 225 EVP are all alive and well. 225 EVP and 227 EVP are dead; the plate 228 EVP now resides on a modern Jag, so the landy could be dead or on a new plate. How many other vehicles could boast a 50% + survival rate after 55 years?

Taken circa 1981, I'm the kid on the left. The traveller belonged to my mum and was the first car I drove, this was around the time the pic was taken (we had a long country drive).

We're trying to work out what the red car is on the right, I think it's the bonnet of a mk 1 Fiesta that belonged to my grandparents but can't be sure.

Again circa 1981, the Capri wasn't ours. The location is virtually identical today...

1989 and my first car in a common pose. The eagle eyed will notice the bonnet is a different colour to the rest of the (rust ridden) Strada. The original skin came away from the frame on the A14 at circa 75 mph giving rise to a small drama! In addition to the Escort what's to the left of the photo?
