The pet shop "buys and sells pets of all kinds"... glad some things have changed.

This is a terrible reflection on my mental well being.
Please humour me.

Jackie Stewart's Capri Registration NHK250M
Jack Regan's Granada Registration NHK295M

I guess Ford had a fleet of cars that they supplied to the good and great.

I think this is probably the third owner of my car back in the 1940's.

I think you'll find that Ford had agreed blocks of registration numbers with the Essex licensing authority. This would save them having to register each vehicle individually. They would then work their way through the number sequence. I suspect that in between the two cars you picture would be a good number of 'ordinary' Ford company cars. The PR Department was just allocated the next number in the sequence when they needed to register a 'celeb', publicity or road test car. That's certainly how it seemed to work when I was there a few years later.

That's absolutly brilliant. Do you have a framed copy on your garage wall?

Unfortunately it is a pretty poor quality image from Motorsport back in the 1947, maybe a small print will appear at some point though.

Who owns Motorsport these days? The image rights might be on record in a dusty filing cabinet.

Speak to LAT, (part of Haymarket along with PH), they have the image archive for Motorsport. Give them the issue number, date, page etc and they should be able to find it if they have it. www.latphoto.co.uk

This was certainly the case, as well as the NHK 295M Consul, Ford supplied Euston Films with a dark blue Mk3 Cortina reg'd NHK 296M for early series of The Sweeney. In later episodes they used a batch of 'VHK***S' Mk4 Cortinas and Mk2 Granadas, at least one of which was also used by Euston Films when they shot 'Out' in late 1977.

There was a big batch of these NHK 2**M Ford press cars at the time, from basic Escorts, through RS's, Cortina's, Capri's and Granada's, Tranny's etc. probably well over 50 cars in total.

Guy on a US forum has posted a load of great colour shots taken by his father in the 50's/60's in USA and in Europe from his time in US military service.

This is a great shot, of the famous road up Pikes Peak in Colorado, taken early/mid 1960's....note the Moggy Traveller biggrin

Lovely photo!

What year's it from, do you know? I didn't think that Agostini rode number 3 in 1967...

The lyrics to Surfin Safari by the Beach Boys came to mind seeing this (OK so I know it's not a Woody) but.... biggrin

Early in the morning we'll be startin' out
Some honeys will be coming along
We're loading up our Woody
With our boards inside
And headin' out singing our song... etc.

Love this pic, what is the car, looks a little like my buddies Mercury which is pretty rare so I'm guessing its something more common.

Taillights indicate a Ford Falcon to me.
