From the Motor Service Area website, Scratchwood in 1969

- which would have been around the time we first visited, hot-footing it back from Scotland in the family Cresta (three children unsecured across the back seat, Dad cruising at 70+ and exhorting all caravans, trucks and Sunday drivers to kindly leave the carriageway).

What's the pale coloured saloon beyond the Renault, next to the Ford?

More similar here;

IMHO it is a Fiat 1100D. How about the blue/grey car beyond the pinkish caravan? Vanguard or Ensign?

Has anyone else spotted the red beach buggy over near the Forte sign?

Fiat is a good shout!

I'll go for Vanguard over Ensign, but not geeky enough about Standard MC products and my eyes aren't good enough anymore to be positive about it.

Good shout, although I thought it was a Pug 404?

Hmm..... Based on the proportions of it in relation to the Escort MK1 alongside I'm still going with the Fiat. Always considered the 404 to be about the same size as an A60.

I am still trying to identify the caravan though! The one behind the Arrow Minx/Hunter is a Sprite Musketeer but the only name that springs to mind for the other one is an Astral.

Note additional tail-lights. Not sure what powered this beast.
Probably not a big block Chevy like in the next period pic. . .

It's an Eccles.

I also think it is an Astral, but don't know the model. Eccles had the strange protruding bay window at the front for at least the second half of the '60s and into the '70s. They also were either one pale colour or later had a mock wooden stripe down the side (tasteful). We had one in 1969/70 and it leaked like a sieve, rotting the frame in no time at all!

Look like 67/68 Mercury Cougar rear lights

On my FB feed today. Looking over toward the viaduct at Stockport, claiming to be mid 70's which is probably about right as there is a (partially) hidden gem, just waiting to be identified.

Lovely photo!

What year's it from, do you know? I didn't think that Agostini rode number 3 in 1967...
Love the chap in the white cow gown with a fag in his mouth!
