How about a 'period' classics pictures thread

The SCCA often allocated race numbers which lasted a whole season, rather than issued individually for each event. The painted wing-tops made me think Bill Krause, and lo and behold his number for 1959 and 1960 was #27.So this could well be XKD519 which was owned by his father. At this point in its history it was fitted with a Corvette engine, a common ploy to keep it competitive (same goes for Listers), although I'd bet it's now back with XK power (more valuable).
Looks like Pikes Peak to me, too.
Bill Krause was very, very fast, but a bit wild.

Not sure on the vehicle type, but that's a military registration on the covered pick-up. If the sticker on the right is red over blue it'll be a Royal Artillery unit, but I can't work out the formation badge on the left of the tailgate. yellowjack said:

Almost certainly red/blue RA ID, and I do recognise the formation sign on the left, but can't remember what it is off the top of my head.....will need to dust off the appropriate book of the shelf when I get home late tonight.
Looks like anti-aircraft command, but the photo doesn't expand that well.Dr Interceptor said:

Look how well parked they all are!Given probably almost all the drivers of those cars had either served in WW2 (or even WW1!) or had done recent National Service.
