Anyone identify the place? It shouldn't be too difficult

And finally
But name the cars, identify the year as well as the place

I know they are not as awesome as the Le Mans photos....

Yep, Glossop

The three photos were take on consecutive days, but the cars don't seem to have moved

The newest car looks like a FIAT 126, so maybe 1973-4?

In the last picture......

Viva HA, Singer Chamois, Austin A40MKII (may be a Countryman!) Marina 1.3, Escort MK1, Morris 1000.
On the other side a Landrover S2 (I think)and a Viva HC.

Reckon that the Marina makes it 73/74.

That leaves the 3 cars in the distance but my old eyes can't manage those!

Well done Steve.

I've only just realised that we have reverse shots of the same street but no more than minutes apart!.

So, let's add..... Morris J2van, Austin 1800, Triumph 1500, another Via HC, Steve's 126, A Hillman Arrow series - probably a Minx, A Viva HA SL, and a Herald. Bad news is that there are now 6 cars I can't manage, the most frustrating one is the white car behind the 1800.

Behind the Moggy 1000 parked on the left hand side going away from us is a yellow Mk 3 Cortina Estate, then there's a Mini Estate passing the Land Rover, and following the Landie is a Mark 1 Granada.

Have no idea why I decided to take this picture of the centre of Tenterden in Spring 1974, but it now shows a lost world. I guess that is a genuine Fiat 125 on the right. Apart from that and the Peugeot 204 estate on the left, a Fiat 127 mainly hidden behind it and the very 70s yellow Volvo 144/145 estate everything else appears to be British made - a different world indeed. I would guess that everything in the picture has now gone to the great car park in the sky.

I posed this right at the beginning of the thread, but here's the same place about 10 years earlier with my great grandparents standing next to their PA Cresta along with my great uncle.

A now picture would be nice smile

My first ever job was at Glossop Car and Van Hire, just behind the Moggy on the left of that photo.

Great pics wink slightly off topic but disappeared didnt Alan Pond have service stations back in the 70's/80's? I remember one in Westerham Kent as a kid the name nudged my memory ...
My grandparents lived in Westerham until 1972 and I can only remember the Crayford Conversions garage at the end of the high street. The only other garage is the VW place out on the road to Biggin Hill (Fox?).

However, I only ever walked around the village so if it was on the other roads or further out of town I'd not have seen it.
