A few photos I came across the other day from the mid 80s. The red Alfasud was our 2nd Alfa - buying another one was the only way to get a decent trade in on the first one! This one was a TiX, which gave the benefit of the fog lights and a glass sun roof.

Unfortunately it suffered when we hit black ice over the North Yorkshire moors. While it was repaired it was never quite the same again and as they used old stock for the new wing, it was rusting within a few months.

This was my Elan +2. Beautiful car which I converted from a Strombergs head to Webers but it was never as good a sports car as my previous S2 convertible.

And finally, my mother-in-law's 2CV. Our original Alfasud is parked behind it. That 2CV was hilarious, if a little smokey! It was a LHD import at a time when 2CVs were quite rare in the UK. Every journey was an event!

I noticed the Oxfordshire number plate on the Spud. From memory, the only dealer in Oxford was Minns Motors that also sold Mazdas. I woke at Black and white garage in the mid 1980's. I have a number of Suds, mainly rusty old st ones but still great to drive.

I had a dark brown TiX in 1992, BLE803Y.

Our first Sud (dark blue 1.5Ti) came from an Aylesbury dealer but I can't recall the name. The red one was from Amersham Motors. By that stage the rust proofing on Suds was much better which was why it was really annoying when SGT of Taplow, who carried out the repairs, either used a wing they'd had in stock since the bad old days and/or failed to rustproof it. They also managed to rebuild the steering in such a way that it veered right under power and back again when you lifted off. My wife took it straight back to be told in patronising terms first, that she was imagining it nad second that "they all do that, madam". Eventually they sorted it but it never felt as sharp as it did before the accident.

I worked at SGT 1994-5. They farmed out their body repairs them but they *may* have had a bodyshop back then. I bought a damaged 18 month old 75 Twin Spark @ 1991 and I bought a very lightly damaged bonnet from them.

Suds with handling/steering problems were notoriously difficult to sort out. I had a 1984 1.3 Sprint that never drove right despite being original and low mileage. Tried everything but to no avail.

I'm trying to think who the Aylesbury Alfa dealer was - nothing springs to mind.

Fabulous colour shot of Daytona Beach in 1957.

And outside the Flamingo Hotel, Las Vegas around the same timeframe.

My Dad used to own the Norton that Eric Oliver raced in 58 with Pat wise in the sidecar.

In the TT:

With my Mum aboard. I wish my Dad had kept that bike!

I absolutely fell in love with sidecar racing when I was a kid. Stuff like this pic is just epic innit: balls!

Never see much sidecar racing on TV which is a pity especially as you could put Cameras all over the bike now.
It has to be said they are totally utterly bonkers but I bet it must be the biggest rush ever.

I don't see anything newer than '56 model year

l-r 53 Cadillac, 56 Chevy, 56 DeSoto Fireflite convertible, 54 Pontiac, 53 Buick, 56 Buick, 54 Buick and another 54 Caddy convertible

background is yet another 2 Caddys, i think the black one is a 53 convertible by the grill, white one may be 56, can't quite make out the bit under the headlights

taxi, maybe a Dodge or a Plymouth? can't think of anything else from that era that fits, all the GM stuff had a pronounced large rear wheel arch shape

Imagine the nanny state agreeing to this street setup today, H&S would have a fit!!

Steam locomotive makes its way down 5th Street in Lafayette, Indiana, very late 1930's or early 1940's.

I did that journey back in about 1975 when I went to Jersey for a holiday.

There was a steam locomotive hauling coal through the streets of Farnborough until 1968...

I think 'Invincible' is now preserved on the Isle of Wight...

Not checked in here for ages, but found this in the attic of my grandparents old house. This is a picture of my great grandads car, circa 1920

It's an AC.

Not sure of the exact model, but possibly a '12hp Tourer' (1920-27).

Yes, that's an AC 12. In this configuration, it's sometimes described as a "Royal Roadster".
Built in the late 1920's, while AC Cars was under the control of S.F. Edge, the later versions are badged as "Acedes".
The spare was usually mounted on the offside, so the car in the pic may have two.

Here's one currently for sale by AC Heritage at Brooklands: https://www.acheritage.co.uk/carsforsale3.html
