That figures. I’ve a sneaking suspicion it was my late father’s Zephyr (reason for the pic)

I think he’s the man standing on the left looking through the shop window.

I don’t remember it, but I do remember a white Zephyr 6 that almost certainly followed it. Thanks for your insight.

To be even more exact, the Ford is either a Zephyr 4 or a 6 but not a Zodiac. It has been fitted with a set of FoMoCo wheel rim embellishers and a pair of Tex Wingard wing mirrors so the owner must have liked it!

The Morris Oxford is the 1957/8 model Series III Traveller which has the various chrome enhancements featured on that version. Our old Greengrocer Mr. Langley had one to replace his 1954 Series II van. Despite it being new, he still stashed it full of boxes, bags and sacks of King Edwards which seemed such a shame to me despite my tender years!!driving
Richard, you really do need to get out more hehe

That's funny, you sound just like my Mum! You see it was a mis-spent life living a few hundred yards from our local Ford dealer so I saw every new and used car pass through the showrooms for a good fifteen years! Ooh...in case you were wondering, the Ford was painted in Monaco Red...but the Morris Oxford colours I'll have to find from my loft stash of interesting junk..one day! Meanwhile I'm off to get another Men-Dac car coat to go with my anorak! angel;)biggrinbiggrin

I know exactly where you're coming from. As a kid I lived down the road from University Motors and saw all the new MG models on a daily basis with reg nos; UML3, UML4 and UML5. I knew all about the MGC, Downton Specials etc, wheel variations, colour charts etc and silly things like that stick in your head - can't remember what I had for tea yesterday though rofl

A brace of Zephyrs? Taken in the early sixties in Nottingham, is the red one a Zephyr 4? Sorry they're a bit fuzzy.

Thanks PistonHeads for this topic - I have spent 2 hours sorting through some of my Dad's old pictures, and thought these would be just right for the topic/thread:

Summer of 1977 - our first Moggy:

Some old pictures from Dad's motoring exploits in the 1960s (great black and white stuff of cars approaching Pardon Hairpin):

October 1975 - Dad's first company car a Triumph 2.5 PI and Mum's old Renault 4:

Dad at Prescott and some of his Frogeye from mid 1960s:

'Factoid' I did not know until recently - he was secretary of the Messerschmitt Owners Club
Competing in the early 60s:

Loving this thread...must dig out some more pics, but for now from my desktop I offer you this;

- spotted in Cornwall last summer.

Apart from being immaculate, on the front is a BRDA badge and the driver/owner is David Richards (Prodrive / Aston Martin / rally co-driver world champion). He was out shopping and stopped for lunch at the same bistro as us. Poor man looked thoroughly bored!

Handsome fella in the foreground is my youngest.

Yes..1970/71 Ford Cortina 1300/1600 L "Decor" in Ermine white with some unusual added on rear fog lights. First registered in Wiltshire and most likely around April/May 1971. It could be the very rare "Base" model but the picture is not quite sharp enough to be certain about the finisher on the rain gutter! Next..biggrinnerddriving

My first car. Picture was taken in '77.

I wonder why both the neighbour & I parked that end of the drive hehe

My mum & dad still live in that house, same shot now would have cars rammed nose to tail in the background.

These are pictures taken by my Great Grandad in the early 60s, I have only scanned a small selection of them so far so there are probably a lot more.

Any idea where this might be?
