I had one too, black, EVO 440V, Talbot not Chrysler at that time. It's still on DVLA but dormant for a long long time.

Can't find a pic of it but have one somewhere though.

It seems that asking for photos of my family's cars has produced a huge amount of pics...

This is me in my first car....

And then we have my Great Grandad Charlie who was a chauffeur in the early twentieth century

And more incredibly to me, a pic of his 'ride' before his boss got a car!

These two pictures are from around 1913, is it just me that finds that amazing?

Biggest problem with my XR2 was that people kept tryingto steal it, or steal parts of it. Wiped out my no-claims bonus within one year. frown
The only cars I've had that people have tried to nick were Fords, a Ford Orion and a Mondeo, both bog standard LX spec. I've had the use of some nice cars over the years but none of them were touched except someone let the tyres down on my Volvo V50

You're right, it's quite something to have such old photos of your great grandfather. Get them scanned and copied and preserve the originals. Nice...

Cheers Rich, scanned and copies backed up in two different houses in case of system failure or fire, I am going to volunteer to be the archivist for our family as it's very interesting for me, even the modern stuff.

Some photos of me and my TR6 in the 1980s. I bought this car in 1983 and owned it for 11 years and through this time, I got married, bought a house, had our first child. The TR was used as my only car at one stage. Reliability was not one of it's best features however. The notorious PI system meant that we'd start a journey never quite knowing if we'd get to our destination. A company car meant that the 6 was put into the garage to await a proper restoration. A familiar tale perhaps, but the restoration never happened and the 6 started to deteriorate.

It was sold for £4,650 in 1994 to a chap who was going to undertake a proper body off chassis restoration.

Some photos out with other TR6s

No, it was an extraordinary time. If you read Siegfried Sassoon's fictionalised autobiography trilogy, Memoirs of a Fox Hunting Man, Memoirs of an Infantry Officer and Sherston's Progress, you get a real sense of that period. It's what my late father described as the England we traded for the First World War.

Looks like that restoration did happen, as DVLA says it's still taxed and MoTed.

A few of mine;

My Spyder in 1988, just after I got it

My Spyder and Fulvia outside my folks place in 1992 or 93

The Spyder, again, just after I got it. my brothers MkII Golf GTi just visible in the background

My SC Targa, outside my old flat in Clapham just after I got in 1998

I still have the Spyder though the Fulvia and SC are, sadly, long gone

Yes, it had been kerbed, so needed a new chassis and suspension on one side. The interior was pretty grim, as was the engine. The trailing arms were also rotten and a few gel cracks in the body. It was a full nut and bolt restoration. Not sure if it was a couple of bad previous owners or Lotus need constant care for a car only a decade old.

To be fair, most cars made in the 70s were jiggered in ten years. (Think Cortinas & Vivas with bodywork rusted through in maybe 4-5 years). We forget how car technology has changed in 40 years or so.
