That looks fantastic on the Lotus wheels, I'm starting to get bored of RS wheels these days, seems every OSF has them fitted and not I'm overly sure on the "Sport" sticker either, I'm sure it's period correct but does it does look like it's a bit of an afterthought by Ford, I'm not slating your car though, I still bloody love it!.

Do you mind if I ask what a car like this changes hands for these days?

I had one of these in the same Orange with black cloth interior on steels about 1986 - it was my 2nd car. Very chuckable and in very good condition. Paid £225 for it and had a new clutch fitted. Haven't got a single photo of it unfortunately. When I took it for an MOT the tester said it was the most solid MK1 he'd seen. Had a nasty head on in it and totally destroyed it.
Yours is amazing -youre a lucky mancool

My 3rd car was a 1300 Sport in 1981-83.

VPD 654 M in light metallic green.

Bit of a rusty thing,i drove for much of the time with red oxide paint on the front panel seams

and with the 1/4 bumpers removed.

Sold it for my first RS2000 MK2 in early 1983

I remember this model as being more realistic proposition for a teenage driver than a Mexico (I eventually bought 1975 Mk2 1.3L). Can anyone remind me whether it was more powerful than a standard 1300? I thought I was about 70bhp.

I still marvel at how well the basic car transitions into a cool looking sporty car with some subtle body mods and looks so good in solid colours as well.

If I recall the Sport & 1300E rocker cover had a 1300 GT badge stuck on from the factory.

Probably upgraded (Weber) carb & cam combination?
