I got to thinking about some of the cars i have enjoyed watching over the years, does anyone know what happened to them or where they are now?
How about the 1172 Wavendon Wombat built by Arthur Cook or the Maclaren M1 driven by Ian Richardson in the 70`s (metallic blue i think)and also the Ferrari 250 GTO driven by Jack LeFort at a Brands Hatch CCH Sprint one year?.........Martin

Yes i too have wondered where all the Ex Competition cars have gone . Howes Garage in Beds , AMC/JEEP Dealers raced a Hot AMC Javelin in around 1974 , Rhoddy Harvey Bailey raced a Hot 427 68 Stingray Convertible , The Yellow K Reg 1972 Capri 3000 raced by Gordon Spice in the 1973 Avon Tour and also the 74 Tour i beleive , ( Any one have a photo of this car ? ) And all the other Capris includeing ( Wisharts Garage Capri , The John Willment Garage Capri ) Rovers , Moskovitches , Dolly Sprints , BMWs etc that were used on the tours . Where have they all gone ?
Tony Strawson raced an Awesome BOSS Capri MK1 called STRAWBERRY in Special Salloons in 1974 , sponsored by CAR Accessory shops ltd of North London , Tony bought the car from well known Capri racer Mick Hill , who had raced it when it was blue and then Mauve and had had been quite successfull with it . Tony painted it Mettalic brown and gold . It was fitted with a 4.7 Litre Gurney/Weslake V-8 which was produceing around 415 BHP @ the Flywheel and had been moved back as far as possible in the engine bay and had an E-Type Diff and All Syncro Gearbox . Apparently the car was awesome but not very forgiveing . Anyone know what happened to it ? Or where Mick hill or Tony Strawson are now ? It was featured in the May 74 Edition of the Original exellent but sadly defunct "FAST CAR" Magazine
Also the Renault 5 GT-Turbo CUP Race Series cars , i beleive that over 100 ? cars were built for this series , where are they ?
I used to be an avid reader of the Exellent "Motoreing News" Paper and many competition and rally cars used to be advertised in its pages ( is it still going ? )

Mick Hill was living near Derby a couple of years ago - a friend looked at his house when it was for sale. Not sure if he is still there.

The Nostalgia Forum on the Autosport bulletin board is a good source of information for old racing cars of all types. www.autosport.com

Baby Bertha, Beetle and (just, in the background) the Daf at the 2009 Cholmondeley Pageant of Power. Apparently this is the first time the three have been together since the 1970s when they raced together.

Ooh, nice pics of BB there. I've seen a picture of it in that livery before, but not a very good one.

According to a board displayed next to it at CPOP this year, it's for sale. I have contact details if anyone wants it...

Doug Niven's restored Beetle was at the Knockhill Classic Speedfair in June, with Doug driving.
It rumoured to be going to Goodwood FoS next year.cool

Time for a "Holy Thread Revival Batman!" moment....

Many of these cars are back on track!

The CSCC are running the "Classic Special Saloons & Modsports" series once again next year.
Catering for Special Saloons, Supersaloons, Mod Saloons, Thundersaloons, and Modsports.

Cars including the V8 Beetle, the DAF 55 Marathon, Baby Bertha, 'THE' Carlton, "Stars'n'Stripes" Manta V8, the "Hexagon Steamroller" MG Midget, a number of Imp's, Mini's, my beasty Belmont, and some new creations which have raised eyebrows - a very very nice V8 Morris Minor, and this Anglia...

Here's my Belmont...

And the Minor...

Next season we start at Snetterton for a the CSCC Test Day - March 27th.

Provisional Calendar is :

Silverstone 10/11th may
Brands Hatch 30th may (Though I'm sure they mean 31st May/1st June)
Donington Park 30/31st august
Oulton Park 27th september

As a very young marshall I put a fire out in the engine bay of Mick Hill's capri .
