Hi all,

Does anyone know of any good Tuning / Repair garages in the Aberdeen area for older cars ~ Trusted mechanics , old school stuff etc etc.
Just moved to the city and am looking to have my Healey put on a rolling road.
Anyone know anywhere, please ?

Thanks,

Sam

Hi Sam

There is a guy called Ricky Gauld just north of Aberdeen, he is actually really good.

He put my Piper on his rolling road and calibrated the Webbers etc, runs a treat. Cant remember his number off the top of my head but have got it at home, very reasonable price wise as far as I can remember.

it's a bit further to travel but I'd go to David Barnett in Inverkeillor, www.classicautosports.com Jaguar specialists and anything British and old, he has a Healey in there just now along with half a dozen E types etc, etc. David sorted out the twin triple choke zeniths on my last 911 ('73 'T') nobody else managed it! He now looks after my '88 3.2 911. David and his son's run the business with enthusiasm and passion, it's an amazing place, like stepping back in time sixty odd years........

Try Nick at http://www.20cc.com/ 6 miles south of Aberdeen, knew him from my Saab days but they work on all sorts of stuff, and have a strange fondness for Chevy Corvairs!

I know David well as he did our TR3. He was actually the person who recommended Ricky Gauld to me!

No problem Sam. It is a helluva distance from Glasgow to Aberdeen.

Just for reference, my last major setup was a Ferrari 400i with no less than 6x 40 IDA twin chokes, twin distributors each with twin contacts. It had been lying in storage for years and the HT leads were arcing everywhere and the fuel was almost solid in the float bowls. A challenge indeed, but well worth it when it fired up. What an exhaust note!!

Incidentally, a rolling road cannot properly simulate driving conditions in real terms and is of little use when setting up an old car. This is particularly true when you have faults in the fuel or ignition systems.

Hi Nick! Hope all is good with you still! Don't tell anyone but I picked up a 9-5 estate the other day so I might turn up in the Saab world again.

Cheers

I am great thank you, Patrick, you too I hope.

If you have a 9-5 best get yourself back onto UKSaabs asap, will be good to catch up again. My Saab collection has grown a mite......

Hi there is a guy out beside Banchory that's only recently built a new garage and would do classic's, I have used Ricky as well but a little further away.

On another note are you in any Aberdeen vintage clubs with your Healy?....here is my Dart
